1. Diaz grew up poor. He communicates this fact to his readers through his use of language. Diaz explain how his parent’s did not have a steady financial income. His mom tried to make extra money where she could and his dad kept losing his job. Diaz explains how his mother would chipped off the cash his father gave for daily expenses to send remittances forcing their broke family to be broker.
Propose and Audience
1. Diaz uses a very informal style of writing but still includes with high vocabulary words in his writing. This shows that Diaz expects his audience to have a sense of awareness of these words. He sees his audience at higher level of understanding although he may use a casual tone. Expecting his readers to have some background knowledge on the topic in which he is discussing.

Foster makes the statement “Confronted by immediacy of destruction, technology is the first thing that flees”, meaning when the wildfire took place they were off no use. When this wildfire occurred all the technology was of no use, it could not help determine in which direction the fire was heading. Although technology is viewed as a vital material to own, in this moment of need it was of no essential use. He had to toss bits of weed in the air to check the direction of the wind.
