The Rosenberg’s both began life in New York City, New York. Julius Rosenberg was born May 12, 1918. Ethel Rosenberg nee Greenglass was born September 28, 1915. The two were the first couple ever to be executed by the United States Government on June 19, 1953. Julius & Ethel Rosenberg were also the first Americans to be tried, convicted and, again, executed for the act of espionage, which could have been a turning point of World War II. Julius Rosenberg’s early life began with his birth and his family was poor. He was born to a couple of Jewish immigrants from Russia. He was groomed from an early age to be an Orthodox Jewish rabbi. The biggest difference was that Ethel had two brothers, David and Bernard. She was the oldest of the trio. One of her brothers was from her mother’s previous marriage. She attended Seward Park High school, where she found an interest in acting, before graduating in 1931. She later met Julius Rosenberg attending the Young Communist Party Convention. The two married June 18, 1939. They later had two children, Michael, who was born 1943 and Robert, who was born 1947. The two still claim their parents’ innocence still onto this day, until recently they have both accepted that their father was to take sole responsibility and their mother should have not been convicted. They also blamed the United States for using them as bait to stir up the cold war propaganda of the time.
