Josef Mengele was a medical expert at the concentration camp Aus,chwitz during WW2. During his time at Auschwitz Mengele racked up quite the reputation. He performed many experiments a lot including twins and what they knew. 1943 was when he got to Auschwitz, during that time he had a full two years before he had to leave. Josef Mengele began at Auschwitz in 1943 after being injured in the war. Being the first medical expert in the SS he had the ruthless background with the medical knowledge. All medical matters in camp he was responsible for from sickness to experiments. His obsession with the study started even before Auschwitz with his mentor getting him hooked on the matter, leading to tests. Mengele’s mentor Otmar Freiherr von Verschuer was the one who got the twins into his brain. His experiments involving twins were gruesome, they went all the way from chemical injections to full on surgery. Mengele was brought roughly 1,500 twins to use for whatever. One of his experiments he sewed two twins together trying to create conjoined twins, they later died if internal infection. After Auschwitz got taken down Mengele fled to Gross Rosen concentration camp until that later got evacuated. He then fled to the U.S. under fake papers from 1945 until 1949 under fake papers. One of the biggest war criminals was right underneath our noses for four years and we didn’t even notice. Later on, after those four years passed his family then helped him move down to Argentina which could not have been easy to do going through the borders and everything.
