While yes, there will be some room for changing my mind after I go to college, knowing where I want to go and why still helps. Can one tells the outcome of life ten years from now? Finding a career after graduating from college is not easy to get chosen. Many students nowadays have no idea of what their major will be after graduating from high school until after attending a couple years of college or university. Some carefully choose a profession based of the most income, while others choose theirs based of their passion. Regardless of which path taking, and how cautious and careful one is to get to the choice, there are always times when the result of the choice could be unforeseen.
Many students see college as the stepping stone to a successful career and a happy life. Which can be true for some, however, many overlook whether college will actually help them succeed, or if college will truly be right for them. College is expensive and it is not for every kid who graduates high school, although it is marketed that way, high school graduates must think critically about their decision. Should I take some time away from school, to know myself better? What do I intend to do for a career? Am I more interested in educating myself toward things that interests me now and discovering my major as I learn, or do I feel I know what I want to do? And also essential questions like, how much debt will I go into? And can I realistically pay it back?
After a 60 minute interview with Dr. Rob Geis, Director of Procurement at BayCare Health System, I was ready to take on the world. Dr. Geis completed his Masters and Doctoral degree at State University while working at BayCare. After completing the two advanced degrees he was promoted to Director. Currently he teaches two online classes at The University of Phoenix on Health Care management and procurement. As a director at BayCare Health System he has to hold trainings for potential vendors and current vendors along with the training sessions for employees that will directly intervene with the vendors of the behalf of the Health System. It was inspiring to see someone who has successfully blended three different adult learner experiences together; a student, corporate trainer, and adjunct professor.
As we begin to grow up and come to the end of our high school career we must start to begin to start thinking about what type of career we want to be in. It is very important that a person picks the right type of career for them. Otherwise you will be unhappy with what you are doing and will not enjoy it at all. I am not entirely sure what I want my career to be but I have a pretty good idea as to what type of job it will be. I would like to go into the field of a physical therapist and sports medicine, I fell I will enjoy this more than any other type of career just because I already have a lot of interest in it.
You go three years of high school preparing for college and at the same time having fun. Until you are in your senior year of high school that’s when you realize and start asking your self what college do I want to go to? Or what college career I want to pursue? That’s when you notice you have but so little time to answer these questions. Me I’m in my last year of high school and I though I already knew what career I wanted to pursue, but its now that I notice that not even I know what I’m going to do with my life? All I’m sure of its that I’m going to graduate out of high school with a diploma and that I’m going to college. But what happens after that? What major did I study? Or where did I go to accomplish my goal?
Depending on your mind set, choosing the right career can be like a kid in a candy shop, on the contrary, the experience can be like getting teeth pulled at the dentist. It just depends on the path one chooses to take in life, whether you want to go to college or not. It will directly influence the outcome and the career one has decided to choose. In my case I want to be a psychologist, which will require a lot of college. So consider everything that will need to happen to get dreams to become a reality. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered and the duties for a particular career when making the decision.
Some people already know by the age of seven that they want to become a pilot or nurse; others, however, have more difficulties deciding what to do with their future. People who decided to go to a university or college have to make an important choice: what major are they going into? For many people this is a very difficult question. As the statistics show, one out of five students change their major between admission and the first day of classes. Nearly three out of four students change majors at least twice before they graduate. And three out of four college students express uncertainly about their major. These striking results raised some questions for me. Is it really necessary to choose a major? What influence has the choice of a specific major on the student and his or her education? What are the opportunities for the future? And how can these students be helped? Since I am still having trouble choosing a major myself, I decided to do some research on this topic and I hope it will help you a little bit to make the right choice.
It is best that every college student take the time to consider what career field to enter once finished with their education. Selecting what career path to pursue depends largely on the life experiences of the individual making the decision, and as to what their talents are best suited. I recently took the time to start examining my future career options as well as begin looking at my life experiences and interests to help guide my career decisions. We can all find the career that we will be happy with if we allow ourselves to give the decision the time and effort that it deserves. I’ve just entered my senior year of high school. I know that this is a very important year. I have a lot of decisions to make and not much time to make them. These decisions will either make or break my life, and I want to make sure that I make them to the best of my ability because there is no turning back. I need to make sure I definitely want to attend college. The decision is totally up to me. There are many positives and negatives of attending college. Go over them, and then decide. I know myself better then anyone else, and I won’t let anyone else tell me what to do. I will make sure if I am going to attend college that I have something in mind that I will want to do, to succeed in. Choosing a major can be a very stressful situation so why not sit down and take some time to do it? Be creative, don’t rush, give yourself plenty of time and really think about what interests you in life.
