America, the land of the free and the home of the brave is starting to struggle. Government is a top concern for most Americans this year and last. 5.5 million citizens are unemployed according to the Wall Street Journal. Some say the United States is the strongest country in the world. My vision of America includes getting better job opportunities, resolving presidential issues, and becoming a stronger country. First, the lack of job opportunities are becoming an obstacle that is hurting the US. 5.5 million citizens are unemployed without unemployment benefits. Low income jobs now account for forty- one percent of jobs in the US. Only 45.4% of Americans had jobs in 2010, the lowest rate since 1983. The US needs to create better job opportunities

This problem must be dealt with immediately with strong action. I suggest implementing federal public works projects as a way of creating jobs without burdening the government with additional expenses. Ideas for these public works projects are: the construction of a Saint Lawrence Seaway, and an Interstate Highway System. This system would be a massive undertaking and would be one of the largest construction projects of all time, but it would create many jobs for Americans who are no longer employed by the war effort (Branyan and Larsen, 251). The Republican party has not been happy with the nation's economic policies for quite some time.

In August of 2009, the unemployment rate in the United States was the highest it had been since the Great depression approximately 80 years before that. During that month, 9.6% of Americans were unemployed. That may not seem like very many people but 9.6% of the population is 29,452,800 people. During that month, over 29 million people were unemployed. Now in November of 2015, that percentage has gone down to 5.1%; which means over 16 million people are still unemployed because of the recent rise in the United States population. In the past 15 years, unemployment has become a major issue in the United States and we are in dire need of a great solution. Thank God we have welfare! Welfare helps so many people who aren’t educated enough to get a job to feed their growing families. Welfare programs have been set in place by the government to ensure a certain standard of living for the entire country.
Not many opportunities are given to a black man in third world countries. When the sun starts to set and the stars come out people shadows will reveal the darkness within them. At night all you see is the corruption form politician, guns in the streets lurking for its next victim. The word opportunity in South Africa is an uncommon word that's never used in everyday conversation. People all over the world dream of coming to a developed country just like America, where opportunity never seems to run out. America is the beacon of opportunity, you have free education, many jobs to work from, and there is someone that's always willing to help no matter the color of your skin, ethnicity, and religion.
A problem America is experiencing is the economic growth, it is a problem because the wealth growth is only affecting the rich. It is as simple as this, the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Robert Reich points this out in his text, Why the Rich Are Getting Richer and the Poor, Poorer. This has been a problem recurring since the industrial revolution, because of the labor groups being stuck in that position. Also, the mergers, and lawyers cycle around their money through lawsuits, and takeovers.
America is the greatest nation in the world. That is a sentence that has been stated many times by many different people, for many different reasons. Whether those reasons are militarily related, based on global political influence, or even economically. However one reason that this statement is repeated over and over again is the fact that America is the “land of opportunity”, a place where anyone can come, work hard and make something of themselves. No matter your age, race, religion, gender or creed, in America you have the opportunity to make something better for yourself and your family. However this ability, this “American Dream” is under attack. Not only is it under attack, it is under attack from within, from our own citizens. The motto of America seems to be changing, from “the land of opportunity”, a place you can work your way to prosperity, to the land of giving, a place where you can lounge yourself through life on someone else’s dime.

One of the biggest problems for Americans right now is the direction in which our country is headed due to poor leadership from our government. This problem has been affecting the American people deeply over the last few years and is only going to get worse. The effects of this poor leadership are the the growing debt in our country, poor health care regulations causing high premiums and forcing punishments upon people who self pay, illegal immigrants at an all time high, not enough money spent for education, and terrorist groups causing fear to Americans. These problems have been caused by the recent politicians we have elected for not only president but all of the branches of government. The best solutions to fix these problems are electing new government officials and a new president that will make changes and fix the problems that need fixing. The other alternative solutions would be the American people taking action and making the government realize that we want change. These problems have to be addressed now because the longer they are put on hold the worse the problems could be become.
Unfortunately, there are many Americans out of work in today’s current declining economy. Unemployment can be defined as a person who is out of work involuntary, not by choice. These people are looking jobs and available to start work. Being unemployed can be disheartening and deciding what the next step is can be challenging. Underemployed can be described as being inadequately employed, such as a low-paying job that requires fewer skills than one possess. (Daly, Hobijn, and Kwok 2015) Making ends meet can be difficult for one who has been affected by this economy over the past few years. America still has a high unemployment rate since the decline of the current job market. And many Americans are struggling to establish the skills needed for employment, or the underemployed are force to lower they skill to make a profit. America’s economic status has force the underemployed and unemployed to make ends meet with the current jobs available. And last but not least some have also utilized these difficult times to venture into new discoveries to make life hassle free. So, we wonder is Americans giving up in today’s economy or do they settle for lower end job to establish a steady income to make ends.
