! Joan of Arc was a woman in which was born into a poor family in France. Joan of Arc, nicknamed “The Maid of Orleans,” was born at the early date of January 6,1412 and died in the year of 1431. Her parents include Isabelle Romee and Jacques d’Arc. They lived in a village called Domremy. Domremy is a grassy part of land in east- ern France. Here, her father owned 20 hectares (50 acres) of land. At a young age Joan of Arc believed that she was seeing spirits and hearing voices. She was quite young when she heard the voices of St. Margaret, St. Michael, and St. Catherine. She reported that these voices told her to reconquer the King of France’s kingdom by helping him. The English king was after the same thrown making it difficult. ! A tiny army was given to Joan of Arc and she worked with this army. There was a war in which she overcame. The date of this war was May 8, 1429 in Orleans. Af- ter this first success, she overcame many more in its place. In the month of May 1430, she was in this battle in which she got captured and sold. The Burgundians captured Joan and sold her to the English. After many months in prison, Bishop of Beauvais helped her get out. She has said that the saints of God told her what to do. She died eventually and was burned May 30, 1431 at the age of nineteen. She was charged with Research Paper! Madeline Beasley atheism, witchcraft, and adulteress. Thirty years later people made her feast day, May 30. ! When asked what help these voices did for Joan of Arc she replied: “It has taught me to conduct myself well, to go habitually to church. It told me that I, Joan, should come into France. . . . This voice told me, twice or thrice a week, that I, Joan, must go away and that I must come to France and that my fat... ... middle of paper ... ...I of France at Reims. Joan was by his side, accomplishing the second charge of her voices. Joan’s mission was techni- cally over, but Paris was still in enemy hands, and Joan’s voices now added a new charge to her duties; she must recapture the French capital, at that time under the con- trol of a sizable English army, led by John, duke of Bedford. (Bonnie p.6) ! Joan of Arc led France to their victory. Charles VII was also helped by Joan of Arc in the ruling of France.
