The story of Jimmy Butler The man, the myth, the legend! Jeremiah 8:4 Jesus says, “you know if a man falls down he gets back up again. And if a man goes the wrong way, he turns around and comes back.” Jimmy Butler is a 6’7 shooting guard in the NBA who has endured more than any should go through. Jimmy’s early life was rough, along with his college and his first couple of years in the NBA. Through all that Jimmy has amazing accolades and awards. Homeless seems to be a major problem in todays era. For All-star Jimmy butler it was a start of a new beginning. Jimmy was homeless by age 13. Jimmy’s mom told him, “I don’t like the way you look. Actually telling his friends that his goal was to get a college degree. Even Jimmy had mind changes at Marquette; he wanted to leave Marquette because coach Buzz Williams was hard on Jimmy. At Marquette Jimmy was 2009-10 big east honorable mention and 2010-11 big east honorable mention. After his 4th year in college and getting his degree, Jimmy entered the NBA draft with high hopes and dreams! In Newark, New Jersey on June 23rd, 2011 Jimmy Butler was selected in the NBA draft. Jimmy went the last pick of the first round. The NBA draft isn’t like any other sport when it comes to the draft. There are only two rounds with thirty picks a piece. Jimmy went 1st round 30th pick the Chicago Bull! Arguably the greatest team to play the game of basketball. The 2011-12 season was Jimmy’s rookie year in the NBA. Every basketball players is to make it to the NBA, even mine. Jimmy’s first season in the NBA was not how he pictured it. His rookie year he was averaging about 8 minute’s a game, not enough minute’s to make game changing plays. Jimmy played 42 of the 82 games his rookie season. 23 of them games he didn’t get off the bench. He only averaged 2.6 points and 1.3 rebounds a game.
