If I were to ask you to think of a name that best defines the role of funniest and most ridiculous person in Hollywood, I would bet that several of you would come up with the name Will Ferrell. This shouldn't come as a surprise to any of you as Ferrell has filled hilarious roles in recent years such as Buddy the elf, Ricky Bobby the racecar driver, Ron Burgandy the anchorman, Chaz Michael Michaels the figure skater, and many others. Instead of punishing him, RAMD Torrey tried to help him. During battle, RAMD Torrey was a leader by letting his friend CDR Powell know that it was fine to be afraid, that battles are fought by scared men who find the courage and commitment to fight and carryout the mission. Our first description of the Commander is on page 99. Here Atwood begins to dig more deeper into the complex and emotional themes that permeate the story. Here, Atwood opens up to us about the Commanders character and he is almost revealed to the reader and for Offred. The Quotation ‘he just looks like a museum guard’ show us that he’s just playing the part in the system. He is the main part in the play which can not go ahead without him. He is just doing his job. Here we almost have sympathy for him, as he is portrayed with a sense of insecurity and a loss in power. He doesn’t have a choice.

Satire is the most powerful democratic weapon in the arsenal of modern media. Sophia McClennen, the author of America According to Colbert: Satire as Public Pedagogy, describes it as the modern form of public pedagogy, as it helps to educate the masses about current issues (73). In fact, ”a Pew Research Center for the People & the Press survey in 2004 found that 61 percent of people under the age of thirty got some of their political news from late-night comedy shows” (McClennen 73). This statistic shows how influential satirical shows such as The Colbert Report or South Park can be.
