In the The Crucible by Arthur Miller, many different themes and conflicts arise throughout the play. A very prominent theme in the play is that of Jealousy and how lots of the characters in the play envy one another. Jealously is shown to be very bad and even capable of destroying entire towns. It does this by taking hold of one person after another, eventually even making its way into the authorities. Jealousy seems to spread like a disease going from one victim to the next until there is no one left. There are many examples in the play that portrays how Jealousy itself is taking over Salem, destroying and corrupting its society.

Arthur Miller demonstrates many examples of Jealousy throughout his entire play.
Jealousy ends up destroying the entire town, turning it literally from a Heavenly, church centered place to a Hell on earth. This shows how Jealousy can turn seemingly good, pleasant people, even the people who would seem the least likely, like someone who has a good reputation and is an authority figure in the town into a figure of corruption. The examples of jealousy shown in the play may have happened quite a while ago but it certainly still happens in our societies today. Making a point that we should not allow ourselves to succumb to Jealousy in order to prevent ourselves and others close to us from to become corrupt.
