Bartenders work behind the bar; making drinks for customers as well as for waiters and waitresses who need to refill a drink order at their tables. Bartenders make alcoholic beverages every day, but they also are required to have a good handle on serving people, especially intoxicated people, handing cash and credit cards, and working with specialty equipment.
“Did you know there are more than 1,000 drink recipes?” (I Seek Careers), and some of the best bartenders know them all. They see a lonely person at the end of the bar, and they know exactly what to get them to cheer them up. Bartenders are masters of the alcoholic beverage industry. “Geat bartenders have all their recipes memorized and never need to use a cheat sheet when it comes to mixing and garnishing cocktails”. (What It Takes To Be A Professional Bartender) Bartenders need to be comftorable pouring liquor, using a cocktail shaker, opening the cork on wine bottles and pouring beer from a tap, whether it’s a slow afternoon or a busy evening.
Bartenders collect money and tips for drinks servered, they must also check identification to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol. Bartenders have to balance cash reciepts, attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons. Also, they must keep clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment, take beverage orders from serving staff or directly to customers.

...ed people to go to school. They teach people what to do and how to do it, they also give them a class on about the drinks they serve. Most people go to the bottom of the stack if they’ve been to school for bartending. Start off as a bar-back and work your way up, memorize drinks people like, but when people become legit bartenders, they will have to undergo 10 hours of practice and examination. Other states may require different certifications. They will need to know how much liquor to put in the drinks, and also require communication skills. No one likes a bore, talk to people and get to to know their story!
In conclusion, bartending is not the easiest job in the world, but if you like talking and serving drinks to other people, than this might be the job for whoever. Take a couple classes or even just look up on it to see what you’re against and be ready.
