Recommended: Brief history of jackie robinson

Title The first MLB game ever played was on May 4, 1871. Since then,baseball has become one of the biggest sports in the world. Records have been broken, championships have been won. Every once in awhile, we see a player come along and completely change the game. A certain player named Jackie Robinson did just that. Jackie was the first african american to ever play in the MLB. Even though he faced a lot of hardship and racism, he worked very hard and achieved his dreams.
Robinson’s Background Jackie’s early life began on January 31, 1919 when he was born to Mallie and Jerry Robinson. He was born in Cairo Georgia. Jackie had 4 older siblings. (Pederson). There names were Mack, Frank, Edgar, and Willa Mae. His father left when he was …show more content…

He was married to Rachel Robinson. They had 3 children, Sharon Robinson, Jackie Robinson Jr., and David Robinson. He died in 1972, After his death, his wife started the Jackie Robinson Foundation, which gave minority youths scholarships and a chance at higher education. In summarization, Jackie had a hard life, but he never gave up and did a lot of good things.
Accomplishments
Jackie achieved many things in his life, battling through pain and racism. On April 15, 1947, Jackie walked onto Ebbets Field becoming the first African American to ever play in the Major League. At the time, people were furious about it. White people did not accept him into the sport. Now, after all he has done, he is recognized as a hero for what he did.
In his honorable career, Jackie also won awards for his play on the field. In 1947, he was named rookie of the year (biography). He was also named MVP in 1949 (biography) These are both amazing awards to receive. Then, to end an unbelievable career, jackie was inducted into the MLB Hall Of Fame in 1962 (sports).
