Jools Holland an English musician once said “ there is always someone in the world who is better or worse off than yourself, and I’ve never seen that in either direction as a barrier to becoming friends with somebody”. People in different or restricting situation have obstacles to go through to become friends. In Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird Jem and Scout overcome Boo Radley difficult situation and all that came with and became friends. Jem and Scout live in a small traditional southern town with many intricacies. One small event changed their life all because of prejudice. Scout , Jem and Dill are talking about How terrifying Boo Radley is and what he looks like when Dill says “‘ Let's try to make him come out, I’d like to see what he looks like…Jem said if Dill wanted to get himself killed, all he had to do was go up and knock on the front door’” ( Lee,16). Dill wants to make Boo Easley come outside but Jem thinks Boo will kill them if he comes out the house. The Finches are fearful of Boo Radley but Dill piques their interest in him. However they're fear grows into curiosity. So they decided that at nighttime they would “ peep in the window with the loose shutter to see if they could get a look at Boo Radley…” ( Lee, 69). They were going to spy on the Radley house hold and see if they get a look at Boo. They began to become curious of the mysteries of the Radley house hold. When Nathan Radley blocked up the knot hole that Boo gave them gifts in Jem “ stood there until nightfall and I wanted for him. when we went in the house I saw he had been crying” (Lee, 84). Jem felt bad for Boo. because he knows that was Boo’s only source of communication. Jem has sympathy towards Boo.Because he knows he'll be isolated from society. Also Scout has a blanket that does not belong to her. It's from Boo Radley so when Atticus wants to return it but Jem knows what will happen and says “I swear to god he ain't ever harmed is, he coulda cut my throats from ear to ear that night but he tried to mend my pants instead….he ain't ever hurt us Atticus” (Lee, 96). Atticus wants to return the blanket Boo Gave scout during the fire. Jem does not want to return it and explains, Jem knew that if they returned the blanket Boo would get in trouble with Mr.Radley. Jem explains that Boo Radley never hurt them even thought he had the chance. Boo was nice to them and Jem knew he would get in trouble if Mr.Radley new Boo went outside. Jem begins to care about Boo. He doesn't want him to get in trouble because he knows he's a good person. Jem cares about Boo
