Imagine designing the newest technology the world will buy. Like self driving cars or consumer used robots. Or imagine designing a life saving medical device. These are a few examples of what mechanical drafters do for a living. Mechanical Drafting is a good career choice for anyone who wants to change the world or keep it going. Mechanical Drafting is a good career choice because of the various work activities, limited education requirement and the pay and benefits. This can be very enjoyable if one likes to use CAD regularly. Most Mechanical drafters only need a two-year associate’s degree (“How to become a drafter”). This means one could be on the job relatively quick with only two years in college saving one a lot in student loans. Also one needs good technical skills with software like CAD (“How to become a drafter”). This is learned through use of software which is used in the two years in college to get one’s associate’s degree. One also needs instruction in design fundamentals, sketching and CAD (“How to become a drafter”). This is learned during one’s two years in college getting their associate’s degree. These are just a few of the limited education requirements that make Mechanical drafting a good career
With the above information being put into serious consideration on my part I feel that I am on a solid path to a successful career at this point in my life. With my anticipated graduation this spring I feel that both of my degrees will help me be successful in either or both of my chosen fields and have a quality job right out of college. “I should continue my education no matter if it is on the job or with seminars and class, which will help advance myself in any career” (Woehl). No one knows exactly what they would like to be doing in twenty years but they can tell you exactly what they would like to be doing and this report has helped me decided that I still would like to pursue career as welder/machinist with a focus in the job shop atmosphere.

When applying for a job for welding or any other career employer will be looking for people that may have past working experience or experience with different practices and machines,tools, and other things that you would use on the job. While applying for a job some employer might ask for proof or evidence that you know what you are doing. During high school or when you start welding you will want to practice working on the same thing over and over then switching things up which in most cases may helping you with some experience, like how i did when i started welding. When i started welding for the first time i had no clue what i was doing and barely any idea on how to do it but after getting help from others and keeping practicing it helped me a lot to get better with my
To paraphrase Alexander Pope, “True ease in welding comes from art, not chance, as those move easiest who have learned to work the puddle.” The puddle is what forms when I first start a weld; however, working the puddle means controlling the weld puddle to form a consistent weld. I think college will not truly teach me how to work the puddle and will not give me the experience I want. I think technical school will truly teach me how to work the puddle and give me the best experience for the welding industry. I think college’s cost, length, job outlook, and social experience is worse versus technical school’s cost, length, job outlook, and social experience. Anybody and everybody can become an industrial machinery mechanic; especially, those who are passionate about getting their hands plastered in motor oil, grease, and other mechanical lubricants. They need to be able to put in one hundred ten percent of their effort into becoming an industrial machinery mechanic. I am going to go for there 40 week program to get as many certifications that I can get so I can get paid more in the career and I am doing it so it looks better on my application. Some courses you need to take in school to be able to do all the measurements and math is geometry and algebra.
