Why is government necessary? What are the primary purposes of government? -Government is a way of making laws and regulations for the people. It is necessary to provide order and safety to the public. We have freedom and there needs to be an in between of freedom and order. Having a government allows protection of our rights and it is also needed to provide us with safety and have law enforcement and education for children. The 5 agents of political socialization are through families, education, peers, religious influence, and the media. The family is a strong influence on thinking about politics because some children will automatically choose the same political party as their parents. Education is one of the major sources of socialization because children get information regarding politics at school and are involved in doing flag salutes or pledges in the classroom. Peers may also influence others if they are politically involved then it makes their friends interested as well. I think government is important, but does not help preserve human society. History has gone throughout time and earlier generations have not had the knowledge and technology that we have today but we have evolved to what we are now without government. I think government is just there to keep everyone in line with laws and our rights and to control terrorism and making big decisions.

The Government has been a crucial part of society. Without the government, society would fall into total chaos where there are not any laws, or any form of protection for the Citizens. With a totalitarian government, the citizens are slaves to the government; not able to have any form of freedoms, with very strict unyielding laws. The relationship between the state and the citizen should be where the people have more power than the government, but the government has enough power to protect the citizen’s rights.

Government effects my life everyday in a vast variety of ways. From the quality of the milk that I drink in the morning, to the license and Insurance I need to drive my vehicle to school and work. Government also effects the taxes that are deducted from my salary. The government uses this money to protect consumers and provide services for the public amongst many other things.
A person is fed information throughout their life from various outside influences, this is how one forms values, views and opinions, and from this, one shapes their political views based on what they believe or have been taught to believe. There are many factors that come into play when these views are formed, some are very apparent (historical events) and others while apparent, have a latent effect (gender, race, socio-economic status etc). The way a person is brought up has a fairly large impact on political socialization, children come to know their parents value systems and beliefs, they brought up around these beliefs and they are instilled upon them in both unconscious and conscious ways. This is the beginning, as a person is introduced to more situations and experiences, their views are molded further, but the foundations are always there.
