In the play “Julius Caesar” by William Shakespeare is Brutus the good guy or the bad guy. That’s the question right? My personal opinion is that he is the good guy. Yes he killed and betrayed his best friend Caesar but was it really his fault. After he killed Caesar he did in fact regret the decision that he made. If you think about it he was tricked by Cassius to kill him. He was lied to and manipulated throughout the whole play. He can’t help he trusted people not just any person either the person that got him into this mess was his brother-in-law. Out of all people you should trust is family right? Yes, Brutus has his faults but he was just trying to do the right thing throughout the play. It’s no big secret he killed Caesar he never tried to hide the fact that he did. “Not that I loved Caesar less, but I loved Rome more.” Through the play he was always talking about his love for Rome how he would die for Rome. What kind of character is Brutus? Brutus is a tragic hero because he made judgement errors throughout the whole play. He made his first judgement error when he listened to Cassius about killing Caesar. He made his second judgement error when he lift Antony alone with Caesar. Then letting him prepare Caesar’s funeral and leaving him alone to talk to the people. At the end it lead to his own death. He wasn’t only a tragic hero he was also a major character/protagonist. He had a inner conflict with himself about killing Caesar. Then he had his outer conflict with trying to fight Antony and his army. He chows he’s a static character throughout the play he never changes how he loves Rome or how he loves the people. Everything he did was for Rome and the
