Abortion is morally permissible in most of all situations. If a woman is pregnant, it is her choice whether or not she wishes to either carry the pregnancy to term or to terminate the pregnancy. If someone else is choosing an abortion for a woman, without her consent, then in that situation, abortion would most likely be impermissible. Restricting a woman’s right to receive an abortion causes her unwanted pain and limits her equality, thus it is immoral to deny a woman the right to an abortion. Self-governed Abortion is morally permissible because it allows women to have gender equality and to live lives free of torture, which are crucial aspects of a their well-being and human rights.

From start to finish, pregnancies involve sickness, pain, and overall unfavorable side effects that reduce a woman’s quality of life, especially if they become extreme. Eliminating a woman’s choice to decide whether she remains pregnant or not, forces her to go through unwanted pain and maladies, which can potentially result in the woman’s death. Torture can generally be defined as causing an unwilling individual to withstand immense physical or emotional pain without their consent. Restricting abortion and forcing a woman to go through with a pregnancy, which subjects her to substantial unwanted pain, is torture. Torture is immoral because it causes pain and curtails a person’s happiness. Therefore, forcing a woman to go through with a pregnancy, which tortures her by causing her to go through great suffering, is immoral because it diminishes her well being.
