~The Girl~ The word ‘Holocaust’ is from the Greek words holos (whole) and kaustos (burned) which were described as sacrificial offering burned on an altar. Sadly, holocaust is known for the 6 million Jews that were killed by Adolf Hitler. Irene Gut Opdyke was one of the few survivors that took a huge place during the massacres against the Germans. I truly believed she deserves the award due to her willing to share her story after 30 years and heroic. She was put to work in a munitions factory.Later on, this german officer took an interest in her and took her out of the factory and gave her a position in a kitchen of a hotel for Nazis. January of 1933 the Nazis came to rule of Germany. Nazis believed that Germans were racially superior and seen Jews as a threat to their German racial community. Due to this reason, the Nazis created the Holocaust. The Holocaust is known as a time in history when Adolf Hitler, the leader of the Nazis and his collaborators killed to about six million Jews, through Genocide, Ethnic cleansing, deportation, and mass murder. But the point of this story is to tell the story of a young woman who I had the privilege to meet by the name of Anna Seelfreud Grosz who survived this tragic time in history.
The Diary of Anne Frank is about Anne Frank’s life in the Secret Annex hiding from the Nazi’s. The diary shows how the members of the Secret Annex help each other keep hope in spite of dark times.
The Franks were your general German family and Anne was your general German girl. This family of four lived in Germany, Mr. Frank was an average business man, Mrs. Frank was an average mother and Margot and Anne were average students. The one thing that made them different in the eyes of Hitler, was the fact that they were Jewish.
The Holocaust was one of the biggest genocide in the world. Over 17 million people died in it mostly Jews. There where more things to The Holocaust World War 2, Hitlers rise to power, and Anne Franks Diary. These events all happened at the same time reflecting on one another. The Holocaust was one of the worlds worst events in history.
Adolf Hitler was a German. He got arrested for doing ilegal things within the government of Germany. After Hitler was free from prison he went back to work in the government of Germany. Hitler slowly made his way through the German government. While worked his way to the top he created laws and changed things to make everything he was going to do legal. Once Hitler made it to the top he started to kill Jews and other undesirables. Hitler wanted all the Jews and all the other undesirables gone he wanted to make them suffer. He had made the plan of the Holocaust to get rid of the undesirables.
“I Want to be useful or bring enjoyment to all people even those who I’ve never met, I want to go on living even after my death!” (from a Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank). This quote has a lot of meaning because she wanted to be remembered and I am now writing and telling about her eighty one years later. Anne Frank is a hero because she was a spirited young Jewish girl that had to go into hiding at the age of thirteen.
In 1941, the Germans had their first round-up of Jews in Amsterdam. 5 months later, the Germans summonded 16-year-old Margot Frank to report for deportation. Otto Frank, however, had contact with Dutch friends, and were able to hide out in the attic of a house. The morning after Margot was summonded they left Amsterdam and went to the attic of the house called the Secret Annexe.
The Jewish people were targeted, hunted, tortured, and killed, just for being Jewish, Hitler came to office on January 20, 1933; he believed that the German race had superiority over the Jews in Germany. The Jewish peoples’ lives were destroyed; they were treated inhumanly for the next 12 years, “Between 1933 and 1945, more than 11 million men, women, and children were murdered in the Holocaust. Approximately six million of these were Jews” (Levy). Hitler blamed a lot of the problems on the Jewish people, being a great orator Hitler got the support from Germany, killing off millions of Jews and other people, the German people thought it was the right thing to do. “To the anti-Semitic Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, Jews were an inferior race, an alien threat to German racial purity and community” (History.com Staff).
Hitler had a hatred for Jewish people, the roots of his anti Semitism are unclear. When Hitler came to power he almost immediately began to strip Jewish people of any kind of rights.
Hitler was Germany’s worst leader because he placed millions of people in inhumane situations. As Hitler began to overtake Europe he started to segregate the citizens of his country. Hitler believed that the aryan race was the purest, and wanted to eliminated every other race, particularly Jews. He began by placing Jews in ghettos. Ghettos were described as, “a life of squalor, hunger, disease, and despair” (Bard 60). The people of the ghettos were devastated to be thrown out of the comfort of their home and placed in horrendous living conditions. The ghettos were known as “a place for slave labor… in other instances, Jewish slave labor had no recognizable purpose other than dehumanization” (Bard 60-61). Jewish people were being stripped of their morale and spirit. Hitler wanted to break them down emotionally. Once in ghettos, Jews were not allowed to practice any religious beliefs. The jews of Rawa were forced to cut their beards; Rabbi ...
Hitler had thought that the Jews did not believe in the “right” thing so he tried to eliminate the race. He did not want them to believe in what they did and still do. He thought that the Jewish race was inferior and did not mean anything. The way that Hitler treated the Jews were crimes against humanity and I know that many non Jews saw that but did...

In the chapter “An Insect’s Wing,” it claims that, “On April 16, the Germans marched into Sarajevo and for the next two days, they rampaged through the Jewish quarter” (56). After a couple of weeks they started with the arrest of the Jews in Herzegovina, that
