This report is on the introduction and globalization of mobile phones and how they ultimately affect our society today. I will detail the origins of the first telephones, including the innovative and creative minds that were the first inventors of the device all the way to how the modern cell phone was created and used to this day. It is imperative to understand that without established “networks,” our current mobile phones would essentially be rendered useless. These “3G/4G” networks are what allow us to stay connected within such a telecommunication-based environment that we, as people, live in today. As a precursor to the introduction of electronic telephones, many people used varying mechanical acoustic devices for the purpose of communication from far-ranging distances. For example, pipes were a common use, as well as can phones. These inventions used by adjoining two cans or cups with a string or wire, which transferred sound to each other using the necessary connection (the string or the wire).
