The movie Into The Wild by Sean Penn shows the adventures from Chris McCandless perspective;however, in the book written by Jon Krakauer, Chris’ life is presented in notes, interviews and letters. The movie is Chris’ autobiography that is told from his own perspective and perspective of his sister. However, the book is based on people's thoughts about Chris McCandless and his diary . Audience experience different feelings by watching the movie as it provides more details and images. On the other hand, the book tells us everything about Chris and let us know what happens to him right at the beginning.

Chris does not love his parents which clearly shown in the movie and that is one of the main reasons why he decides to start new life. In Chris McCandless’ mind the civilization has limits as he leaves his parents and his sister without telling them. He wants to be well prepared before his adventures to Alaska and he works hard to be ready to experience the best of the wild. He sees Alaska as freedom everyone needs and as soon as he gets all the supplies he decides to finally go. Chris makes his way to Alaska after meeting many good people that support him. He does not appreciate moments that he shared with people he met and later he would find that “happiness is only real when shared”. As a young man he did not want to die but he knew that his adventures could go wrong. Chris’ letter received by Wayne Westerberg says:” If this adventure proves fatal and you don’t ever hear from me again I want you to know you ‘re a great man. I now walk into the wild. Alex.” Chris called himself Alex because he did not want his family to find him and he knew that he might not come back to civilization. However, in the movie he does not think about bad things that might happen during his adventures and all he wants is to write a book about himself living in the wild. His thoughts about people change as he lives in Alaska for few month. Chris wrote his famous quote which is “happiness is only real when shared”. Sadly, it was too late when Chris realized what the truly happiness meant. Chris death is shown in more detailed way than the book where it just says “he probably died on August 18”. The lighting and images help create the mood needed which book cannot do. Readers know that Chris was happy before he died as he penned a brief adios: “I HAVE HAD A HAPPY LIFE AND THANK THE LORD.
