(Carr, 118), Carr had put a lot of thought into this statement and how it would be interpreted. Not meaning he lied around thinking about what to say, more along the lines of that quotes such as this, are what he made a living off of. Breaking down these comments is what is the most interesting. This quote for example, describes how the Internet is one of the most important technologies ever, even comparing it to other technology such as the alphabet and number systems. This is much like the alphabet, which is used for others to interact with each other. Social media is an example of this. Social media is used so that people can speak using messages or calling. People share what is going on and different social events. It allows people to find certain products, share information, or it can be used to simply meet new people. This is just one of the many ways that the World Wide Web can be used. The Internet is used worldwide. Unlike number systems and alphabets, there is only one internet, meaning that there are multiple number and letter systems for different languages. With the exception that the internet is censored in some countries, it is the same around the world for the most part. This allows for global trade and a more modern way to share information that everyone can understand. Some say that the Internet has a negative effect on how people interact with each other or certain situations in general.
