Interest Groups are formed by individuals who want to influence the government and American politics. The different types of interest groups in America include business/agriculture, labor/union, professional, public, ideological, and public sector. Regardless of the type of interest group, all interest groups have the common goal of wanting to influence the government and shape America into a better country.
Americans for Democratic Action Americans for Democratic Action (ADA) is an ideological interest group. The purpose of the ADA is to strive to incorporate democratic and liberal views into American policy. The purpose of the UCS is to create a safe and healthy world for everyone. The USC has both informational and collective good benefits. The USC has many websites and conferences that help inform their members of ways to keep the earth safe, and they encourage everyone to join. The USC improves the health of people by creating a safer environment, and creates jobs for Americans through projects such as building eco-friendly housing or things of that nature. There, these benefits are collective good benefits because they are available to everyone including nonmembers. The USC gains political power through the media by keeping citizens up-to-date on important issues such as global warming, and ways to help better the environment. Many of the members of the USC are made up of scientists, therefore, many people trust their claims because they are backed up by scientific research. Because of this, many politicians shape their views on the environment based off of studies made by the USC which can lead to politicians passing laws that favor the beliefs of the USC. The USC does a great job at protecting the environment and making the world an all-around healthier place to live
