Abstract China has become the world’s 3rd most popular destination of international students who chose to further their studies abroad. There is a notable increase in the number of foreign students coming to China. These students are coming from different parts of the world and have different culture backgrounds, which implies that, there is need for them to learn and adapt to the new culture of the new environment. Because of the uniqueness of Chinese culture, it is crystal clear that, as they will be learning the new culture, the students will inevitably face intercultural adaptation problems in their daily lives. The main reason for the challenges faced in adapting to a new culture was due to one’s personal factors, culture difference factors and language barrier. In view of the above mentioned facts, few suggestion were proposed to the students themselves,school management of international students , students and teachers ,then the local people as a way of reducing the problems faced during the period of adjusting to a new culture. Since another factor is cultural differences between the two countries, this article suggests that both the hosting country, and Zimbabwean students should be very good at learning and understanding the other country’s culture. Zi Yue said: "By nature, men are nearly alike, by practice they get to be wide apart." Since our humanity nature brings us together and create a unified society rather than separating us, because of the differences existing in our traditions, customs and habits, understanding other countries’ culture is very important. So by understanding the other groups culture can make our practices bring us back together. Zimbabwean students in China should know that it is important to know their culture and other people's culture, and to be able to recognize and appreciate what is unique to the culture of another group. This can help unify different cultures of the society and promote mutual understanding among people of different cultures living in a same society. The same applies to local people, and they should do the same.
4. Intercultural communication competence, I found that intercultural communication is the foundation of all positive inter-cultural adaptations. In order to successfully adapt to a new culture, this paper encourages the students to have the ability to develop goals ,knowledge, skills, and attitudes that can lead to a visible behavior and develop communications that are effective and appropriate for intercultural
