As long as you know how to dribble the ball and shoot, you can already play the basics of the game. Dribbling is so easy to learn, you can even learn it by just watching how it is done on YouTube or watch some NBA game highlights. Shooting is also easy to perform, although you need a lot of practice to hit it like the GODS of shooting, like Ray Allen or Stephen Curry. Simply throw the ball into the ring and watch it sink in. Another one is defense. Who says that playing defense is difficult? If you are playing against a good player, maybe it is. However, its fundamentals are easy to learn. You just have to stand in front of a player, use your body to block his or her way, and use your arm in a legal way to prevent him from shooting or passing the ball. Well, is it just me or does that sound like a lot of time in the game of basketball? In 1982 he took a big step up from highschool to college, where he wanted to pursue the basketball dream. He went to college at North Carolina where he played NCAA basketball for just one year before he was drafted in 1984. All eyes were on him when he went on the court, because that just how good he was at the game of basketball. Michael Jordan is one of the greatest players in NBA history, maybe even the greatest of all time.

To think that this life altering activity was thought of by only one man, Dr. James Naismith, a Physical Instructor at the YMCA Training school. Which was in Springfield, Massachusetts. Naismith was under the instructions of the head physical education board when he had the brilliant idea. He was given an enduring two weeks to come up with an indoor game that would give an “athletic distraction” for a jumpy class to participate in through the harsh winter approaching them. All he had was his own mind and a small indoor space to some how create a new game to be played. Naismith succeeded and his creation is now a big time sport played by millions all around the world.

He remembered a game his friends and him had played all the time: “Duck on a Rock”, which involved trying to knock a large rock off a boulder by throwing smaller rocks at it. Naismith also remembered watching a game of rugby going on in the gymnasium. The game of Rugby involved tossing a ball into a box. After a very short time of trying to make up a game for these young men, Naismith came up with a brilliant idea. Little did he know the game that he came up with just so happened to be one of he most renowned sports in American history. Naismith’s idea pertained to nailing up raised boxes so that players could attempt to throw a ball in the basket. When there were no boxes too be found, he used peach baskets. Supposedly, Naismith came up with all the rules for this game in no more than “about an hour”, according to Alexander Wolff. Shortly after Naismith had invented the game of basketball, graduates of the YMCA traveled internationally which is the main reason as to why this sport is so widely known. Basketball a sport that is played throughout the whole world. When playing this sport all you need is a ball and basket. Though the basket does have to be a certain height kids play it in their classroom or outside.
