Place your hands in a basic grip where your right hand is halfway down the stick, and your left hand is at the top of the stick. You should be perpendicular to your target with the ball on the right side of your body lined up with your back foot Bend your knees and get low Perform the pass. With the ball on the stick, shift your weight from your back to your front foot which should be pointed at the target. Push the ball forward and across the body. Rotate hips to increase power. After the ball is released, point the tip of the stick at the target and don’t let it go higher than your waist. Transition: (Now that you can pass short distances, let’s talk about the slap shot) The slap shot is a fast pass that can be used for long passes or shots on goal. As with the push pass, you must begin with a basic, correct stance. Place your hands in the basic grip. With the left foot pointed at the target, line up the ball with the inside of the front foot. Bend your knees. Perform the pass. Take a small back swing. Shift your weight from the back to the front foot. Again, rotate your hips for power.
