Upon reviewing my speech, I can understand where I need to improve my speaking skills, as well as places where I just need to fine-tune them. I chose to talk about skiing because it is an activity that I look forward to every winter, and knowing I had a trip out west over break I knew I would be able to talk about this topic easily. Although I do think that I gave an effective speech, I think there were many things to learn from the overall content, organization, and delivery of the speech.
The content of my speech was an area that I think was adequate for an informative speech. It was meant for an audience that may have some knowledge of the sport, whether from experience or just watching it on television, as I spoke about the basic signs

It discussed the types, the clothing, and signs, which are very important to discuss the basics of skiing. Each topic had subtopics that added to the quality of the speech to inform about a general overview of skiing. The main ideas were distinguished because each topic had a different sign or notecard to follow a new thought. Each topic related to each other as it started with knowing where to start skiing, to what you would wear, and finished with how to follow signs down a mountain. This was only understood if the topics were thought about, but it was an easy outline for the speech as it was how a skier would decide what to bring on a trip. The introduction mentioned this as I stated this is how I would prepare someone to go skiing. By including my own experience, I gave myself credibility and brought attention to the topic by saying I had been skiing ever since I could walk. It also prepared the audience for what to expect from the speech. The first transition was smooth because it went from overview to the first topic, but the next few transitions could have been improved. I wrote what I wanted to say on the notecard, but when it came time to conclude the paragraph, the transition did not sound as good as I would have like it to. But in the end, the conclusion did cover the entire speech and provided closer for the topic. The conclusion could have summarized every topic one last time, but overall it ended the speech on a high part. The speaker organized the presentation very well and made it easy to follow for the audience. She chose words that got the message across clearly and were not difficult to understand. Since this was targeted at a younger audience, she simplified the concepts and was very specific. The sentences of the speech were structured appropriately, and had no grammatical errors. However, I did notice that there were a few faults in the presentation, one being a fault that I personally consider may have negatively impacted our presentation. It seems to me that I was not able to deliver the presentation to the best of my ability as I had let my nerves get the best of me when talking to the staff. Conclusion, to end my presentation, I must summarize my main points as I would in the conclusion of a written paper. I have to remember that there is a difference between spoken words appropriate for the ear and formally written words intended for reading, including terminating my presentation with an interesting remark or an appropriate punch line that will leave my listeners with a positive impression and a sense of completion.
The first day I was out of the hospital after I was born I was at the race track watching dirt race cars racing in circles beating and banging. I have been around dirt racing all my life. And probably will be until I die. My topic is dirt racing. i am going to be talking about what dirt racing is, who famous race car drivers are, and a tour of a dirt race car.
While watching my video I did notice that I was able to understand and clearly know what the main point was. I spoke in a clear and a tone loud enough for everyone to hear. The speech was organized very well, so one idea or thought flowed to the next. I don’t think I need to change anything in regards to my central idea being clear. I also think I improved the conversational aspect of my speaking voice. I am extremely proud of my introduction when I signed and spoke at the same time because in American Sign Language, you only sign. By combining these two acts, I not only engaged the audience by forcing them to look at me, but I also explained to them what I was saying and did not leave them confused.
