The CIA is pretty important to this country, yet some people don’t know what it does. The CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) is a government agency that as Wikipedia says, “tasked with gathering, processing and analyzing national security information from around the world, primarily through the use of human intelligence (HUMINT).” They don’t work much with domestic like the FBI; they do most of their work overseas. It has different divisions such as Analysis, Operations, Support, and Science and Technology (Wikipedia."Central Intelligence Agency"). They have had successful operations for instance locating Osama Bin Laden and arrest of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (Monroe et al.). There also some secret operations that have occurred, such as Operation CHAOS, Phoenix Program, and Muammar al-Qaddafi to name a few (Jason). What if it’s because it’s true? There are old CIA agents that have told stories about what they have heard in the CIA. One of those agents is Gardy Underhill. He told his friend that the CIA killed Kennedy because he was going to tell the public about the plots to kill Castro, which the CIA came up with (Simkin). The CIA didn’t want the citizens or any Castro informants to know about their plans. It could ruin it all for them. They didn’t want communism in Cuba or really anywhere. Even Castro doubts the facts that were given. Castro in an interview said, “There were people in the American government who thought Kennedy was a traitor because he didn’t invade Cuba when he had the chance, when they were asking him. He was never forgiven for that” (Goldberg). The CIA were the ones who came up with the plan to invade Cuba so it’s no secret who thought Kennedy was a traitor.
