I’m sure you just think track and field is just a sport to stay in shape; this is where you are wrong. Track and field is so much more than that. Track and field is a sport of hard work, dedication, endurance, and showing off your accomplishments. Track and field is a sport which includes athletic contests established on the skills of running, jumping, and throwing. In the sport, track and field is a sport that is always compared to cross country because of the long distance runs. In track and field there are many events to test your skills. You have long distance runs: the mile and two mile run. Also, there are sprints: 100, 200 events. At first, pacing oneself is going to be difficult because a runner body will have to get used to it going at a specific pace. One reason a runner should pace themselves is so you won’t burn out. Pacing yourself will help you conserver energy. Pacing yourself will also strengthen and train your muscles for endurance instead of short burst. The pacer goes at a speed that the runner can constantly maintain throughout the event.
The next type of runner is the all-out sprinter. An all-out sprint gives an all or nothing attitude. The all-out sprinter gives everything he/she has. For example, someone who is running one lap around an all-out sprinter is sprinting from the shot of the gun to the finish line. These usually are the people to excite the crowd. An all-out sprinter doesn’t pace themselves at all. An all-out sprinter usually runs short distances but also could possibly run long distances. An all-out sprinter finishes the way they start by giving one hundred percent.
The energy saver is one of the smartest types of runners in my opinion. The energy saver conserves their energy until it is needed. In the mile run is where you see most energy savers. At the beginning, the energy saver run around at a steady pace until the last lap in the event and use all the energy that they have
