Infertility: Undesirable Journey Life is a roller-coaster to a destination unknown. As we grow up we dream and plan our lives which involve our careers, families, and our future lifestyles. Unfortunately not everything we plan comes true there are bumps and hurdles in life. Some just make us stumble while others are crippling. One of those crippling wonders of life is known as Infertility. Infertility is defined as “not being able to become pregnant after a year of trying. I also feel we should take efforts into getting insurance coverage for infertility. Couples should not be denied children because of affordability or lack of coverage. I believe knowledge is power and the more we know about infertility the more we as a society can understand it. Although that is higher odds than trying to conceive naturally it is still not guaranteed. IVF “is the process of fertilization by manually combining an egg and sperm in a laboratory dish” (American). There are plenty of couples that have went through countless cycles of IVF and spent thousands of dollars and still go home child-less. The expense for the average IVF procedure is estimated “in the U.S ranges from about $12,000 - $15,000” (Infertility resources: IHR). I myself for a basic IVF procedure was quoted $10,000 and that was for basic hence why we need coverage for insurance and understanding from the world that Fertility treatments are needed for some people and it is as heartbreaking and life ending as any disease to some
