Individual Session Outline 1 of 1 Discussion of what would be accomplished in each session and technique(s) used John was chosen for individual therapy due to his motivation for change seemingly to be the highest amongst all family members. As such, a deeper relationship is to be developed between he and I in the hopes of promoting and fostering a greater differentiation of self. Furthermore, it is my intention to assist John with de-triangling to avoid further negative producing emotional fusions. Psychoeducation will be provided for healthy family triangles, differentiation of self, and how viewing family from a multigenerational context can help ward off maladaptive behavioral patterns from repeating. We will explore all aspects of both his immediate and extended family searching for key features that have promulgated across generations. …show more content…

We will discuss any life events, his personally or others that have indirectly caused any negativity with the way he views himself. Further discussion will be about his sexuality and the role it plays with his wife. Additionally, John’s spirituality will be discussed covering topics such as how it relates to his personal life, his marriage, his family, and the role it plays regarding the meaning and purpose of life. The second treatment goal relates to stress and his occupation as a CPA. We will devise methods to cope with the stressful rigors associated with his job. A career change will be broached and explored as a possibility. Three ways to manage everyday frustration in a positive manner and deciding on two new hobbies or interests that may lessen his stress will be explored. A recommendation of an adequate night’s sleep will be provided as well as visiting his primary care physician to rule out any somatic conditions. Session Homework
