As I read the article on social worker for victim services I thought of how amazing of an individual you would have to be to do this type of work. To work with victims of a crime whether it is domestic violence, rape or murder, these people depend on you. This career to me seemed like it could go in two different directions. Going the way of the criminal system, helping in court for the victims or going more the way of the victim services, helping the victim through the hospital visit and decision making process at that time. The Incident Command System or ICS was introduced nearly 50 years ago as a way to mitigate confusion in emergency situations involving multiple responding units. Originally used by southern California fire services during fast moving wildfires, ICS has been used for many different scenarios that may exhaust the first responding unit on the scene, including a car accident needing and additional ambulance or help from a fire department with heavy equipment such as the Jaws of Life, an airplane crash with multiple victims, or a terrorist attack like the Oklahoma City Bombing on April 19, 1995; or the attacks in New York, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001. The critical incident that I will be explaining about is regarding an eight-year-old girl currently a student at Victory Independent School District (VISD). This student wrote on her class journal that her uncle was touching her in her private parts when no one was watching. The teacher was so confused to what to do when he read Bianca’s journal, especially because he was wondering if it was appropriate for him to ask her questions about it. The teacher was concern that due to being a male that the student was going to feel uncomfortable if he were to ask her about what she had wrote in her journal. The teacher did know what to do and he was so confused because he was reading and grading the journals at home during the weekend. He continued reading Bianca’s journal and feeling more worried about his student's well being at home.

Having a disaster recovery plan marks the difference between organizations that can successfully manage crises with minimal cost, effort and with maximum speed, and those organizations that cannot. By having back-up plans, not only for equipment and network recovery, but also detailed disaster recovery plans that precisely outline what steps each person involved in recovery efforts should undertake, an organization can improve their recovery time and minimize the disrupted time for their normal business functions.
