Getting in touch with anyone anywhere in the world is not a problem anymore. We can contact anyone on the move anytime. The basic concept of cellular phone was developed in the 1940s. Mobile phones were the beginning of the wireless communication. They are the used extensively now days. From year to year the number of mobile phones subscribers increases. According to the data in the International Institute of Communications (IIC), World Bank, Britain ranked second position of having the largest mobile phones subscribers after the US in 1989. By 2000 half of the US residents own a mobile phone going with a major poll. This rapid development is related to some early breakthrough like radio and radio telephony. The technology development: From 1980s – present many big mobile phones manufacturers like Ericsson, Nokia, Siemens, Motorola and NEC started adopting and applying new technologies in their products and to maximize the quality of reception and transmission. During the last 10 years the development of mobile telephony is phenomenal. Now we can even access internet on cellphones. By using Wireless Application Protocol the user can access information from the internet, and the services like SMS makes the connectivity too simple. In 1906 Reginald Fessenden introduced amplitude modulation which converted sound waves into signals. In 1935 Edwin Armstrong introduced frequency modulation of radio waves which used smaller, lighter receivers and less power wireless. From 1920s – 1950s In the early of the 1920s the mobile radio communication was used in a vehicle by Detroit Michigan Police Dept. Rae Young, B... ... middle of paper ... ...phone. 1992 Nokia 1011 the first GSM phone in its class was introduced. 1993 The first touch screen phone by IBM was introduced which was named Simon. 1996 The first clam shell phone came into market which was known as Startac and introduced by Motorola. 1997 The first phone with color screen was introduced by Siemens which was named Siemens S10. 1998 Ericcson introduced the SH888, which was the first phone with modem capabilities. 1999 The GPS navigation technology came into existence and the first company to come up with its handset was Benfon it was called Benfon Esc! 1999 The first phone having internal antenna was introduced by Nokia and was called Nokia 3220. The year is 2013 We are using super phones with 4G LTE capabilities which are too close to the tablet PCs and even the laptops to name a few are Apple iPhone 5 , Samsung S4, HTC One and the list goes on.

In 1904, John Fleming invented the oscillation valve, which later became De Forest’s audion, and De Forest won the gold medal at the St. Louis World’s Fair for his “spade detector” (F). De Forest gained quite a bit of fame by broadcasting music live from the Eiffel Tower and from the Metropolitan Opera; however, many believed that this was a scam and that he had actually had the device broadcasting the signal only a few blocks away (F). In 1906, he envisioned bringing music and voices to all American households, but as it turns out Canadian inventor Fessenden had already broadcasted a Christmas greeting and music to the crew of a ship off the coast of Canada on Christmas Eve a year earlier (F). Radio had many pioneers that allowed for its creation and their names are Heinrich Hertz, Nikola Tesla, Ernst Alexander, Edwin Armstrong, Guglielmo Marconi, Lee DeForest, Frank Conrad, Reginald Fessenden, and Edward Armstrong.
