Introduction
This paper takes a closer look at the Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training Framework for the five basic skills, which have been adapted so as to facilitate integration into each subject. These skills are basic due the fact that it essential when it comes to learning in all subjects.

Before we start analyzing the importance of oral skills, let us have a look at each skill individually.
Communication skills comprise receptive skills and productive skills. Listening and reading are receptive skills while speaking and writing are productive skills. Receptive skills are these in which students receive and process the information but do not need to produce a language to do this, while productive skills require the production, for instance, a speech (Harmer, 2007: 246).

What are oral skills?
The framework defines the oral skills as the ability of creating meaning through listening and speaking. It includes being able to listen to others, to respond to others and to be conscious of the interlocutor while speaking. Speaking is one of the most difficult skills language learners have to face. Listening, as we know, is the skill of understanding spoken language. Listening is an essential skill, present in most of the activities we carry out throughout our lives, as Lindsay and Knight shows

Writing involves expressing oneself understandably and appropriately about different topics and communicating with others in the written mode. Writing is also a tool for developing one’s own thoughts in the learning process.. This includes being able to plan, construct, and revise texts relevant to content, purpose and audience.
What are digital skills?
Digital skills involve being able to use digital tools, media and resources efficiently and responsibly, to solve practical tasks, find and process information, design digital products and communicate content. Digital skills also include developing digital judgement by acquiring knowledge and good strategies for the use of the Internet.

What is numeracy?
Numeracy means applying mathematics in different situations. Being numerate means to be able to reason and use mathematical concepts, procedures, facts and tools to solve problems and to describe, explain and predict what will happen.
