This report concerns about the supply and demand of local manpower in construction industry of our country, Malaysia. The increment in development of country has increased the number of construction projects proposed. This bring a rise to the demand of manpower in this industry. The increased demand causes shortage in manpower and subsequently lead to delay of construction projects. This is due to the nature of construction industry, which is labour intensive. Hence, supply of local manpower resources must be adequate and stable in order to nurture a higher quality of construction workforce.

They use their knowledge to finish a task and to help to make things more efficient and effective. A country’s sustainable rate of economic growth is affected by the growth rate of labour productivity. The labour wages and construction cost can be stabilize or avoid any sudden surge by having balance supply and demand of manpower. By having a stable supply of well-trained labour, the industry could also improve their productivity and quality of works (VTC, 2001). This is because the more people available to work, the more products or output can be produced. The work can also be completed in shorter time and the company can take on more projects. On the other hand, lack in manpower not solely will reduce the productivity and production but also will slow down the output rate which will cause a decrease in revenue and profit of a company subsequently affect the growth of economics.
