Importance Of Love In Literature

Literature is not for the faint of heart, because it takes time, effort, and education to understand. I would have to say that I am blessed to have the background in literature that I have, but there is always room for improvement. From a young age, I had encouragement to pursue my love of literature. When I grew older I had great teachers to help improve my understanding of it. Currently, I am able to enjoy literature not just on an educational level, but also as a personal hobby. Lastly, I hope to continue to improve my literature skills by being in my English one class.

In the development of my literary experiences, my mother took it upon herself to teach me. I can remember my mother reading to me till the time I was twelve years old. She also taught me to read and write. My mother reading to me as a child impacted me the most because I now love to read. Reading to me as a child exposed me to a new world of unending possibilities. Now, as far as writing goes, I do not remember doing a great amount of it. The most I remember is writing some at school and then I occasionally would write in a journal. I greatly admire my family because of the time they took to ensure my literary education and I appreciate their encouragement.

In high school my teacher, Mr. Slade would have us read books out loud in class, if there was a movie associated with the book we would watch it, we would compare the movies to the books, and then we would do projects about the book. This really helped me to understand more complex books and enjoy what they were really about. A few of the books we read in class were A Catcher in the Rye, Fahrenheit 451, Hamlet, and The Great Gatsby.
