Leonardo da Vinci: More Than Just an Inventor
“Wisdom is the daughter of experience” (Abbagnano). These are my forever-lasting words that establish the importance of wisdom in a society. In order for a society to reach its full potential, a high state of wisdom must be achieved. Therefore, I stress the prominence of wisdom integrated into a society as it offers substantial payoff to the individuals. Reaching the ultimate platform of wisdom in a society starts with the principle values of the individuals that compose said society. Although this platform may seem unachievable to some there is definitely a method in which I consider plausible. The individuals must value certain aspects of life in order to gain endless wisdom. The coexistence of nature and everyday life can breed wisdom within the individuals of society. I once said, “understanding nature means understanding the proportion that is found not only in numbers, but also in sounds, weights, times, spaces and any natural power whatever” (Abbagnano). In essence, this quote elaborates on the idea that nature is present in all matters of life and can be very influential. All of my drawings were made with limited resources and limited knowledge, granted this, despite all odds I imagined the unimaginable. My designs for a parachute ignited wisdom within society and fueled further advancements. “My parachute consists of sealed linen cloth held open by a pyramid of wooden poles, about seven meters long” (“Leonardo da Vinci” British). “In my notebook [I] remark that with such a device anyone can jump from any height without injury” (“Leonardo da Vinci” British). Moreover, the love for science was not the only reason for my inventions, the functionality of society was of utmost
