Abstract This article deals with ethic in new media and the fifth estate. However, in order to understand the concept of “new media” and “ethic” need to analyze the elements. The new media is a choice to young generation to get information especially about politic issue. This is because they don’t believe on traditional media. The issue that has been discussed is about the ethic among new media because traditional media has their own ethic and they apply the ethic in media. But new media don’t have an ethic, so they just say what they want. Some new media publish what the traditional media “don’t” publish and because of that, new media is important to individual life. If seen, the use of new media is much higher than traditional media (David Croteau, 2012). This happened because the use of new media is free and accessible anywhere. There are no restrictions in the new media where there has pro-government, pro-opposition and neutral. The new media known as transparent media where what is said is straightforward. However, new media that don’t have any censorship from any parties and some of websites that is not from journalists. In addition to seeking entertainment, new media also provides information that is not sure the originality of news because now people can use technology to change. Because traditional media has been through the screening process set by the government, new media has become the choice of young people to get the information and for them, new media is true sources. The impact of new media can be either individuals or groups. The effect can be seen from the aspect of social, political, and so on. As a result of the impact on new media, the political landscape is changing. News can also be delivered in a few minutes, but the purity of news doesn’t know.
