In societies today, e-Learning and modern electronic educational technology are very important. A lot of significant developments has occurred in e-Learning over the past ten (10) years especially in regards to technology and how it has influenced our daily lives with the use of mobile technology like Smartphones, tablets, and similar devices which have flooded the market and therefore opened up new possibilities for how we learn on the go.
There is also wealth of resources and techniques that helps with new teaching practices, easily accessible methods and various formats of teaching and learning. The virtual online class can be viewed anywhere in the world that has Internet connectivity. There is no travel time or any particular place required nor does it require attendance at a particular time. Online studies take place at a time of convenience to the student. The bricks and mortar world classroom is definitely going to be a thing of the past, Online education will continue to be asynchronous, free of the traditional classroom learning restrictions of time and space and will continue to be far more effective, especially for advanced University level instruction and beyond.
E-learning will eventually reduce the costs of education drastically as new and creative online instruction programs are developed, which will not just be slightly better than time-space restricted classroom education, a position it has already achieved. Another important thing to note is that despite the fact e-learning is fast growing in many schools and universities, it is definitely important for both teachers and students to know that there are necessary technologies that must be on ground in order to sustain e-learning, these include the communication technologies and course management technologies needed for sustaining this type of learning. Administrators of universities have to continue working harder in providing the adequate communication and course management technologies needed and at the same time lecturers and students should be encouraged to utilize the advanced technologies for enhanced teaching and learning. (Rosen, 2013)
When it comes to organizations, some have been slow to adopt e-learning due to a lack of need, and therefore offers tremendous benefits for small organizations in the form of time savings, captured expertise, improved workflow and improved staff development. Small organizations tend not to have the right components and working atmosphere in place that allows for the adoption of e-learning.
