The most important rule that I believe in is that my classroom should be a place of learning. The best way to create this type of environment is to make sure that I am consistent with all students and that I make the students feel comfortable and relaxed. I believe that students learn more in a consistent relaxed atmosphere, because all students need to know that what’s wrong for one is wrong for all and what is right for one is right for all. I want my students to be comforted in the feeling that they are all on equal footing when they step into my classroom.
I am a believer that all students need to have boundaries set up and explained on the first day of school. I think that all students want to learn and a great environment for learning starts with the rules clearly defined. I will have my classroom rules posted for all to see and

They are as follows: 1) Listen and follow directions quickly, 2) Keep your hands and feet to yourself, 3) Respect your classmates and your teacher, and 4) Work quietly. I think that these are important enough to go over and easy enough to follow. I think that most students’ off-task behavior can be traced back to at least one of these rules, so even if the students don’t come up with any other rules to follow, these cover most all of my bases. I think that with any rule there needs to be a consequence to follow for students who do not follow instruction. My consequences are as follows 1) Warning, 2) Lose five minutes of recess, 3) Lose 10 minutes of recess and a note will be sent home, and finally 4) Sent to the principal’s office, lose whole recess and letter will be sent home. I think that the students need to be made aware of what they have done wrong and that’s why the off-task behavior is always given a warning to allow the students time to readjust and do better. If they can’t cooperate then the behavior needs to be punished and then they need to be able to move
Establish a sense of responsibility by creating rules and expectations as a class. Have clear visual cues of responsibilities and consequences around the room. Use the support of other staff in implementing classroom management strategies. Use the school discipline system to monitor student behaviour. If students engage in misbehaviour, they receive a warning and are then sent to the timeout desk to reflect and write in the timeout book.
Without classroom management the classroom has no guidelines. The students in the class have no idea what is right or wrong and this is a reason why classroom management is important. When my students enter my classroom on their first day the first thing we will talk about is my classroom rules. The rules will be short and simple and posted somewhere near the board so they can always refer back to them. Having rules will keep my classroom managed throughout the year. Additionally, I will also have a classroom management plan written up before the first day of school starts. In this management plan I will list ways I will prevent problems from happening in my classroom, for example, I plan to do a group activity daily, regulate learning activities, and provide a discipline plan. In my class, we respect ourselves and take care of one another. I will encourage my students to try their personal best in every situation they find themselves in. I will remind students that your personal best effort does not look like your neighbors. I will structure my classroom environment so students can easily collaborate and form positive relationships with one another. The structure of my classroom environment will be full of warmth, patience, and humor creating an environment that is welcoming, safe, and fun for my students. We will look out for another and help one another reach our fullest potential individually, academically, and socially.
They should be respectful, safe, fair and considerate. Children should not be bullied or humiliated. Adults should not befriend the children within the school as they are the adult. If a child must be disciplined the procedure must be followed so the child is treated fairly within the school guidelines. Pupils should always be be treated equally. Staff should not give or receive gifts from children. This can be seen as favourable discrimination. Relationships with children should always be professional. Children should only be touched when it is necessary for the pupils well being or safety. Arrangements to meet or communicate with pupils outside of school should not be made. This includes email, text or social media. Mobile phones should be stored away to prevent accusation of inappropriate use of them. For example taking photographs, video or using the internet. Staff should not place themselves in vulnerable position. Individual work should be carried out in sight of other adults, with the door open or in a communal area. Staff must ensure their class room or the area they are working with children is safe. This also includes considering the safety of the activity and preventable hazards that might occur. In the 21st century, teachers experience many behavioral issues with students in the classroom and face challenges that are very difficult to resolve. School districts have different expectations about how students must behave during school and teachers have their own expectations about how students must behave in their classroom. Each year, as a new group of students enter my classroom, I will encourage them to be expressive of their imaginations in their favorite subjects, whether it be art, literature, math or music. We all have rules and regulations to follow, and each student will know that there is no exception in the school or the classroom. Another goal in my classroom will be to keep the students excited about learning, not to treat school as a game or a social event, but to encourage a unique and fun atmosphere to learn. My educational ethics toward each student will be to emphasise that everyone is an individual, they are all special and unique in their own way, and that every student does not learn on the same level. I try imparting into them the importance of an education and how they contribute to the growth of our society. In my classroom, I am in control. I draw a clear line between what and how much my students are allowed to do in the classroom. In the first week of school, I establish my authority and I clearly and explicitly express my classroom and outside the classroom procedures that will be followed and the rights that every student has in the classroom. Education serves as the foundation to a lifetime of learning. Since every child is unique, I believe that it is important for them to learn in an environment that is both secure and stimulating. By creating this type of atmosphere, the students will be able to realize their intelligence and use it constructively. As a future educator, it will be my goal to establish a classroom that is, 1) non-authoritarian, 2) student-centered, and 3) focused around student experience. The rule that was one of the first ones that I encountered being in this classroom was her noise level rule/chart. There was a chart hanging in the very front of the room that enforced and reminded the students of her noise level rule, and she frequently referred to it. This rule was one that the students new well and followed it without a problem, it is also one that I wouldn’t mind using in my own classroom. The rule is that the students have different noise levels that are expected from them, the level they are supposed to be at is given by the teacher after the students are given the rules of an assignment or test. The first level is level 0 it means that there should be absolutely no talking, then there is level 1. Level 1 means that the student can whisper to their neighbor (shoulder buddy) but the person that is sitting across from them shouldn’t hear them nor should the teacher. The next level is level 2, it means that you can quietly talk to your group, this would be used if there was any group work going on, but the tables surrounding you should not be able to hear you. Then there is a level 3, level 3 is the classroom discussion level meaning that anyone in the room can hear what you are saying.
