34 years ago the MIDI was created and changed the world of music. MIDI stands for “Musical Instrument Digital Interface” and has completely changed how we make music today. The MIDI also lead to people being able to have their own home studio and work on music from home. With this technology you no longer have to have to pay a lot of money to record your song in a full studio. You can do it all from home and save a lot of money. No longer do you need a piano and a drumset or even guitars, strings. None of that. You can do it all from a MIDI board. In fact you can write a whole song just with one MIDI board. MIDI revolutionized the music industry and will remain a huge part in writing music for a long time. (Bateman, Tom)

Though it may sound like it MIDI is not music at all. All MIDI sends out is data telling the computer what sounds to make. A MIDI keyboard does not make actual sounds and the files don’t make any sound when you try to play them like normal mp3s. They send data to the computer running the recording software and plays it from there. From there you have to format the data as an mp3 and export it. This is how the keyboard can make so many different sound. You program what sounds you want to use on the MIDI and then you can play it using software. It has become so big that it is going to take a while for it to finally die out and by that time a new type of MIDI will already be out. It has been and will always be such a huge part of the music industry. It helped people to get discovered and also to make a whole new type of music and show their creativity which is a great thing because that is what music is all about. Creativity is a much needed part in music and with MIDI the possibilities are endless. MIDI paved a long road for the music industry and greatly helped
