The War On Immigration Since the beginning of time immigrants have come to the U.S to with one goal: to make a better life for them and their family. In the world today there is a huge debate over the topic of immigration. Some believe that that U.S needs to strengthen its borders while others believe it is fine just the way it is. This debate comes from the fact that thousands of immigrants are living in the U.S illegally. The U.S needs to strengthens its borders to save the future of America. Immigration first began with the English colonists. Since then many more people from all cultures have immigrated to the U.S in hopes of a better life (Jacobs and Walter). Those individuals believe that all should be granted with the opportunity of making a better life for themselves and their families. However, the amount of terrorism in this country is becoming out of control. Illegal aliens are causing high amounts of terror to the U.S. One example would be the Boston bombing which was the work of individuals who were in the U.S illegally. If the U.S does not get control of its borders illegal immigrants can cause far more harm than they already have (Does). It has been said that immigration is as old as America itself. Immigration traces back as far as the 1500's when the West faced the coming of the Spanish. At that time, the Americas had been settled by the Indians, who were soon threatened by the first immigrants of America. These Spanish conquerors threatened to undermine the culture of the Indians as well as their way of life. Evidently, immigration started from the beginning of our country's time and has had an everlasting effect on America today.
Among the problems that face our nation, illegal immigration seems to be one of the most regarded. “In 2005, there were 12.7 million people classified as refugees in the world. Refugees are forced to migrate because of danger in their own country.” (Cath Senker 12) Some push to end it while others want to have it legalized or less strict. There are many points that are argued on this topic. Although immigrants support the economy, they should have to pay taxes. Illegal immigration should be stopped or slowed until the legalization process and borders are improved. Due to the fact, that taxpayers are the backbone of our economy and nation as a whole.

The Mexican-American border barriers were originally built as part of a three-pronged approach to diminish illicit contraband, drug smuggling, and illegal immigrants. This operation would curtail drug transport routes from Central America. Three headquarters were established along the Unites States border: operation gatekeeper in California, Operation Hold-the-Line in Texas, and Operation Safeguard in Arizona. These strategically placed headquarters have done an outstanding job securing our borders the past decade, however with drug smuggling on the rise, they require much more support from the government. Regrettably, adversaries of the barriers claim that they are more of a political gambit to instigate foreign affairs and a complete waste of taxpayers’ money. These opponents see the United States-Mexico barrier as an unsuccessful deterrent to illegal immigrants and unwanted drugs that ultimately and inaptly endangers the security and wellbeing of immigrants seeking refuge in the States.
... U.S. counties bordering Mexico live at or below the poverty line. Along with unemployment rates, this is a significant problem for border security and the threat that it poses on our borders. Each day there are efforts to enforce and strengthen our borders from illegal immigrants, drugs and terrorism. Over the years, there have been major changes in the way we secure our borders. Immigration is positive for our country’s economy, although illegal immigration is negatively impacting our country. Resolved to join the American way of life, a large number of outsiders have ventured to this extraordinary land to have an existence based upon “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” Determined to join the American lifestyle, thousands of immigrants have journeyed to this great land to have a life based upon “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” This country’s backbone is immigration and it started when this country was made.
