Iago’s passion for Power leads him to become a cruel, evil man. In Othello Iago plays everybody, especially Othello to the point that he kills his wife and himself. Iago did not only have passion for destruction he also had passion for power. He was jealous of Othello and Cassio.
In act 1 Iago says “I would not be Iago in following him, I follow only myself. Iago says that he only follows himself that he will never follow Othello but the reason he says that is because Othello gave Cassio the job. This shows that he wants more power than Othello and he will do ANYTHING to get it.
Iago should not be so passionate for power because at the end of the day he has a job. Al though he wants the lieutenant job because he feels that he is the one that
