Your Future goals and ambitions and how this scholarship would assist you in attaining them: My future goals are to graduate from UW-La Crosse with a degree in accounting, and become a Certified Public Accountant. I plan on working at a smaller firm, so I would be able to work with more local businesses because I want to know who my clients are. I enjoy volunteering within my community, and I would like to continue this in the future by working at local blood drives and helping with similar activities in La Crosse like our school’s backpack program that provides lunches for students for over the weekend. I really enjoy working with younger students within my school by helping them in the classroom through peer tutoring or other activities that I am involved in. I would someday like to coach either volleyball or basketball at some level because I like to work with kids as well as play sports and watch my teammates learn from myself and our coaches. Outside of school, activities, and sports, I truly enjoy spending time with my family as much as I can. I really learned that my family is such a vital part of my life when my grandma died last year. I learned that I need to savor every moment with my family, and take every opportunity to talk to them or visit them. My family learned to spend as much time as they could together after my Uncle Travis died, when I was five, during his senior year in high school. I have learned to enjoy my senior year because it might all be taken away. One of my new favorite activities after school is coming home to our puppy, Nucy. She is always excited to see us, and she can make a bad day so much better by giving you lots of kisses. Men and women sacrifice their time with their families for us, and without those sacrifices I would not be able to apply for this scholarship. They allow us to be able to receive a college education, and for women to be able to fight for equal rights and have the same opportunities as men. For me, giving up half a day to work at a blood drive or my lunch hour for a week to help call to find donors is well worth it. Giving up a very small part of my day to help collect blood for people in need is something that I will do in a heartbeat. Giving blood saves lives, and although I may not have the bravery of those that protect our country, I try to do what I can to help others. I have always used the motto, “You never know when it will be you that needs blood.” Giving blood has really helped me to be more grateful for what I have. I am healthy, I have a wonderful family that is healthy, and we have enough to survive. Giving blood is one way to help those that have a sick loved one to recover, and it’s the least that I can do to help
