I Am One of You Forever by Fred Chappell tells a story of a young boy’s coming of age in a small Appalachian town in North Carolina. Though the novel is mainly about Jess’s personal growth, his father Joe Robert matures right alongside him. Stefan Dziemianowicz writes, “Chappell 's stories often focus on family relationships, notably fathers and sons embarked on rites of passage from childhood innocence to adult experience” (Dziemianowicz). Many scholars criticize Joe Robert and say that he’s immature and reckless. Others like John Lang disagree saying, “In the endearing, vividly imagined Joe Robert, Chappell has produced just such a figure, a character of heroic dimensions whose quest for truth . . . both delights and enlightens (Lang 243). Over the course of I Am One of You Forever Joe Robert grows as a person and as a father.
An example of a good memory is when her science teacher gives Melinda and her biology lab partner, David Protracis an apple to dissect and study. This reminds Melinda of when her father took her to an apple orchard and sat her high up into a tree. It was windy day and the wind pushed her mother into her father’s arms. This made Melinda very happy. Her parents do not seem to get along in the story and her father rarely has time to talk to her mom or Melinda.
Ed, one of the main characters of Marcus Zusak’s work of fiction, I am the Messenger, changed an immense amount from the exposition to the conclusion of the novel. Ed, though, did not transform as much physically as he did mentally. In the opening of the story, Ed is a simple, uninteresting man who becomes a hero. He prevents a bank robber from escaping the scene of the crime that was just committed. Yet, after stopping this man in his tracks and saving everyone in the bank, Ed believes that he is not different at all, despite how the people around him see him.

Societies have always had troubled through the idea of difference between people. These differences come from the societal norms that are accepted toward a group of people. It seems it is only natural for human beings to hate one another due to the differences that they have. Belonging to a group or a culture can either classify them as either civilized or uncivilized. The earliest memories I have of being read to were always positive memories. I remember in the seventh grade after lunch time, always at three in the afternoon sharp. Our teacher would gather us together in a little spot dedicated just for reading. We had some bean bags and comfortable chairs facing her ready to hear the new and exciting story she would read for us that day. I loved listening to my teacher reading us a mystery or sometimes a very funny story. Other days we could pick our own book which I loved. I remember several times been so indecisive on what to read. Every book seemed interesting and some didn’t but I was afraid I would be judging the book by its cover and would lose the good time of reading a scary or amazing story.
Memories are among the most precious things a person can accumulate. While making a large sums of money can lead a person to be disliked or mistrusted by their peers, obtaining good memories serves only to enhance one’s standing among one’s peers. My favorite memory is of the 2008 Mid-season Classic wrestling tournament at Clarion High School because my wrestling team took first place at that tournament, we were able to beat the team that was ranked #1 in the district, and one of my wrestlers left me with an unforgettably great moment.
July 17,2015, 4:20 a.m., my first-born baby girl arrived. At that moment, I realized I am no longer just a sister, a cousin, niece or a daughter. I am a first-time mom. For the first time, I held a new born baby. I got my first chance of changing, bathing and feeding a new born. The feeling was unpredictable. Just in two days we were finally home. I was to doing the same thing, except with a lot more moving around, up and down the steps constantly.
When I graduate high school, I would like to be remembered as a person who was important. When school is over and we're all living our own lives I hope they would look back and talk about me with pleasure and say only good things about who I was.
Memory helps to create and develop personality types as it helps to connect the past information and the present as well as the common knowledge. It forms an essential part of the cognitive functions in human life. While the sensory memory holds the experienced information in the last few seconds, the short-term memory retains information a little longer but not longer than the long-term memory.
One day when I'm older and having the life I built to have. I want to remember all the things that built me as a person, not necessarily just the good ones. Many people don't want to remember the bad things but I want to remember it because whatever I did is on the past and you must learn from it and move on. Not only that but my mistakes changed my mentality of the way I see things. I want to remember all the fun things I did, all the stressful moments of studying, I want to remember even the teachers that made my days somehow more difficult. You need to live your life to the fullest. Times passes and you can't go back, but you got to admit to yourself what changed you and what made you become to the person you are.
