Before I start my speech I would like to thank the Rotary Club, My teachers: Mr. Gonzalez, Mrs. Manuel, Ms. Soun and Mr. Bui, and My principal Mrs. Berry for recognizing me. When I was younger I believed in fairy tales, Fairies, Mermaids, Monsters and Magic, but trust me when I say I never thought I would get the honor to be in front of all of you talking about my plans for the future and what motivates me to be the best I can be everyday at school. My story starts at berlyn, I was at berlyn from kindergarten through second grade, and at the time my teachers did not motivate me to do well in school. Every single day I dreaded going to school because it didn’t benefit me in any way. At this time I only had one friend who is still my friend today after 6 years, she motivated me to do better because I didn’t like being one of the only students to not do well in school. So with her motivating me I brought up all my c’s to A’s in a matter of weeks. Ever since then I have strived for a 4.0 GPA and kept up A’s and B’s and I have surrounded myself with friends who I know will bring me up and not down. I also immerse myself in extracurricular activities such as Soccer, Basketball and Running. To add on I am Editor-In-Chief for the Edison Newsletter and spend most of my spare time perfecting it. I come from a magnet school that is blessed to have a large number of extremely bright students that are very dedicated to their studies, a must because of the difficult curriculum involved. The community is a very strong one with many of the students going on to do great things, which has given me the inspiration to believe that I can do whatever I want in life, as I see others who are well on their way. Within this community, I have been able to form strong bonds with other students who have similar interests and ambitions. We are able to push each other to learn new things and, through a mix of competition and collaboration, are able to truly progress in many ways, pursuing excellence in both our scholastic and extracurricular endeavors. I believe this has made me a better person, inspiring me to take on a more demanding schedule and to help others when they struggle, because they help me as well. As a student, I am an active participant in my academic and extracurricular activities. My first priority has always been to make good grades and learn in school. Although this is important to me, I also know that by participating in clubs, sports, and after school activities, I will become a well-rounded student. During the past years of my high school career I have participated and received awards in the following: Cheerleading (eight years), twice as captain, '97 -'98 Varsity Letter in Cheerleading, '98 AIM scholar, Who's Who Among American Cheerleaders, and '98 Academic Excellence Award while participating in Virginia High School League Interscholastic Activities. I also belonged to the following clubs: S.A.D.D. club (two years), second year as secretary, Pep Club, Varsity Club, Choir Club, and Computer Club. In the year '99 -'00 I received awards in the following classes: Computer Applications, Spanish I, World Geography, and Advanced Algebra/Trigonometry. I also received an award for Most Encouraging Student. I currently belong to the Hiking and Outdoor Club, Ski Club, Pep Club, and Environmental Awareness Club. In addition, this year I participate in a program called Read With A Friend. In this program I, along with a group of other students, go to the near by elementary school to read to a class of students from kindergarten to fifth grade.
Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen - I would like to start by thanking Frank on behalf of the bridesmaids for his kind comments and echo the fact that they look wonderful and performed their role fantastically well, despite the inevitable and healthy rivalry that can sometimes occur. Brothers and sisters, do you have any idea—do you have any notion or inkling whatsoever—of how much we love you? For 10 hours you watch, fixed on one face at this pulpit sequentially, but for those same 10 hours, we seated behind this pulpit watch, fixed on you. You thrill us to the center of our soul, whether that be the 21,000 here in the Conference Center, or multitudes in meetinghouses and chapels, or finally millions in homes around the globe, perhaps huddled around a family computer screen. Here you are, there you are, hour after hour, in your Sunday best, being your best. You sing and you pray. You listen and you believe. You are the miracle of this Church. And we love you.
I began to strive for straight A’s and my days consisted of hard work and constant studying. I feel that I was hit with a sudden feeling to become a better student because of all my teachers who motivated me to do well and I did not like being one of the only students to not do well in school. Without Edison I never would have become a leader, I never would have been Editor-in-Chief for our newsletter, I never would have gotten Rotary, and I never would have understood who I truly wanted to be but my drive that was created here has shaped me, it really has shaped all of us, and for that I am eternally grateful. Before attending Edison I loved making a difference but I feel that my wish to make a difference will become a reality because of all of my experiences here, one day I wish to change the world, whether it be helping the homeless, editing a book that will change lives, informing the public about major issues or even changing our environment. I know I can do it because of how much motivation we are given by our amazing teachers. It it our teachers that play a huge role in our daily lives, they help us when we can’t help ourselves, throughout my years with them they aren’t just our teachers, they are family, our
Thank you for the wonderful life you have given me. Any woman would be lucky to have you and I did not deserve a man like you. You were always there, reliable and trustworthy, and i was so blind. You were standing right in front of me and i walked right through you, on you. It is only now that I realize how much you meant to me, how much worry you must have had. I do not think I will ever stop looking out the window waiting for your return, or the way we used to sit at the table for supper every evening. It is the little things I miss the most about you.

Hello how are you? I apologize for not keeping in touch, but I just wanted you to know I miss you and I wish you are well. I just turned 20 at the end of last year and I am close to ending my 2nd year in college, at UC Merced. Mostly with As and Bs. I wanted to thank you, for being so sincere and caring about me. You were right about everything, it feels like freshmen/sophomore years in high school in your class were so long ago, they were centuries ago..I am embarassed to even look back at my mistakes, but I can barely remember my high school self. Looking back I realized I should've been greatful with your concern and wisdom. If only I could tell younger self what I know now, and that there are so many more important things in the world.

Valedictorian Speech Good evening fellow graduates, teachers, family members, friends, and distinguished guests. It is a tremendous honor to be the valedictorian of our graduating class. My job is to somehow be the voice of the entire graduating class, and take five minutes to say a few words on behalf of all 539 of us. Like most valedictorians, writing this speech was not an easy task for me. Not because I did not have anything to say, but because I was overwhelmed by how much I wanted to share with you all on this day. Tonight, we have one common purpose, to celebrate. We are here to congratulate, to look towards what the future holds for us, to wish each other well, and to, most importantly look back on our time spent here. So, I would like to start by saying 'well done' to my fellow graduates, who have all worked hard during the past several years to reach this milestone. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to the graduating class for selecting me to speak here tonight. Ever since the news broke, many people, some who've I've never really met before, have come up to me and have wished me well. When I was in high school I had a problem, which was being shy. Being shy made me seem as if I was anti-social, and caused me to have no friends, but my shyness was decreasing each year of high school because I talked more, and by the time I reached 12th grade I had many friends, who are very close to me till this day. While being in high school, I was always focused on my studies. People believed that I was a genius in high school, but I really wasn’t, I was just focus on the lessons, and understood what the teacher taught us. As I reached eleventh grade, I was chosen to be a part of the National Honor Society; I thought that I was never going to be part of the National Honors Society. I was at the hospital when my friends told me the good news—that I was selected to be part of the National Honors Society. As I reached 12th grade I learned that working while going to school is a bad idea if you can’t multitask right. When I was working I didn’t realized that I wasn’t multitasking right; I wasn’t putting enough effort into my studies, and having a job was distracting me, so I decide to quit my job, and continue my education by going to college.
