Good evening everyone, I would like to thank you all for coming today to share in this special occasion. Thank you Stephen for his toast to the delightful bridesmaids, who look absolutely stunning. I would also like to congratulate the lucky couple, Stephen and Vanessa. Let me introduce myself to those of you who do not know me, I’m Ali and it is a pleasure to be standing here as Stephen’s best man. I met Stephen at High school in year 9. I had just moved schools so the teacher asked Stephen to show me around, it was through the tour that our friendship started to grow. Stephen has always been good with women, however the he has requested that I refrain from mentioning his past girlfriends for the sake of briefness. This cut the speech short by a good 10 seconds. I have known Stephen for 15 years now and to be honest, a man like him only comes around once in a life time. He was always the smartest kid, fittest and the friendliest kid in class. I recall one day we walked in through the class room door which was held open by a chair and half blocked the door way, and Stephen being Stephen instead of trying to walk around the chair and get by through the unblocked half, he tried to jump over it. Now we can all see where this is going, when he jumped, due to his height he hit his head on the top of the door way and fell down on the chair. He rolled for a good 3 metres before stopping, now at this moment everyone in the classroom was crying of laughter while Stephen was lying on the floor with a tomato red

I would also like to say that Sallie looks stunning - as I'm sure you'll all agree. Which really isn't that much of a surprise given we are related.
I would like to start my speech today by thanking Richard for his kind words. I am really proud to have become Isia’s husband; ever since the day we met I have been treated as one of the family and this has made our Journey to this day that much smoother! Thank you both for your blessing I promise that I will make you proud and live up to the high expectations I am sure you have! Thank you for everything you have both done in making this day so special if it wasn’t for you I am sure I would still be saving. So far the day has been an amazing experience and I am sure it can only get better.

It is good to see so many friends and family here today to help celebrate Paula and Manson’s wedding. Rich became my closest friend through college. Through that friendship I made other life-changing friendships that carry on today. He told me his happiest time in college was his senior year. That is when he met his wife Nonie. I remember their first date when Sandi Parker introduced them. Many times he would head over to Randolph-Macon Women’s College to see Nonie, or she would be headed to our campus to see him. Rich and I were roommates that year.
Finally, on behalf of the bride and groom I would like to thank everyone for sharing their special day, it is a true millstone - sorry milestone in their lives. On behalf of myself I wish you'd all stayed at home - as things would have been a lot easier on me. I started planning this speech about 5 months ago and I expect you all feel like I've been delivering it equally as long. When it comes to Best Man's speeches there are some things in the interests of good taste, which are better left unsaid.....well, I'm here to say them!
I was afraid that he wouldn’t welcome this change in his routine that I was bringing, but he was extremely warm and polite; he had the amiable personality that makes anyone feel as though they could easily open up to him. As we start conversing, it is almost as if he wanted someone to come and talk with him.
And, on behalf of the bridesmaids, I’d like to thank Anthony for his kind words. I certainly agree that they did a great job today.
