1. The feud is going on between two families, the Grangerfords and the Shepherdsons. Huck had been taken in by the Grangerfords but they became suspicious that he was a Shepherdson. The Grangerfords that Huck lives with is Tom, Bob, Charlotte, Sophia, and Buck. Buck fills Huck in on the 30 year family feud, he also tells him about how in the last year two people have died because of the feud. During a gun fight in the forest, Buck and his 19 year old cousin, Joe died. The Shepherdsons go to the same church as the Grangerfords, who have a big estate with over 100 slaves. 2. Buck Grangerford is the youngest child in his family. He is very adventurous, welcoming, and friendly. He becomes Huck's good friend. Emmeline is the dead daughter of the Grangerford family. She always created paintings and poetry and Huck feels bad that no one makes any for her. He attempts to write some poems for her but isn't happy with his work. 4. Sophia is part of the Grangerford family and is one of the beautiful daughters, and Harney is a Shepherdson boy. Dr. Robinson is the only man who realizes that the Duke and Dauphin are fake. He calls them out for being frauds. He states that their accents are fake and that they are pretending to be British. He tries to warn the town but no one will listen to him. 14. Mary Jane is the oldest, and one of the nicest Wilks daughter. She immediately trusts the King and Duke, even though they are big liars. She gives them a big amount of money that her father left behind with no hesitation. She doesn't believe that they are frauds until Huck tells her. 15. The tattoo is what helps the lawyer solve the case for the King and Duke's fraud. He asks what was tattooed on Peter Wilks breast and the King was so surprised by it. He tries saying the tattoo is a small blue arrow, but really it is small faded letters of P, B. The crowds realize that they are frauds and want to drown them. 16. Mumps is a disease that Huck makes up while talking to Susan. He tells her all about how Mary Jane told him about this horrible disease. He only tells this lie to make sure Susan won't say anything about her sister's
