Argumentative Essay

As a student, I believe that it’s not fair for copyrighted music to be streamed at the fraction of the cost of a CD or for free. Artists deserve more than letting their music be free. They get less money money from streaming, but with more money, they can keep making music. Using Spotify has stopped people from illegally downloading the music for free. Even though more people will listen to music if it’s free, the music industry will go slow. For these reasons, I believe that it’s not fair for music to be free.

Artists receive less money from free streaming services like Spotify. Not getting paid slows down the process of making music.. Therefore, no money means no more music. “Unfortunately for artists, most of them make a lot less when you stream their music than …show more content…

This money goes into people who helps artists with their songs, like managers. With money, they can set up more concerts for people. Stated in “Top Singers Team Up…”, “Tidal describes itself as the best sound quality, high-definition music videos and exclusive content”. I believe that Tidal can bring in more money to make music. Using Tidal will stop people from using free streaming services.
Back then, people use to illegally buy music on the internet. This is called piracy. When this started to happen, sales started to go down and the music industry became slow. Then came Pandora and Spotify. These companies only gives a little bit of money or sometimes none. This upset artists. “Valuable things should be paid for. It’s my opinion that music should not be free” (Abrahams). I agree with this because it’s not fair for artists to do so much of the work just to receive a little.

Even though more people will listen to someone’s music, I still believe it’s not fair. The quality of music will be much better if pay to download it. In addition, more music will be made. It will also stop people from illegally downloading
