No matter how small or big, all of us make decisions everyday that comes naturally in our lives. When making choices and decisions it is dependent to a person’s character and determines a direction that possibly can affect them positively or negatively. Shakespeare utilize the decisions made by characters to build upon the actual tragedy in one of his most popular and known work, Romeo and Juliet. Important decisions are made throughout the story, unfortunately, most are made without careful consideration or judgment that lead them for undesirable outcomes. Lovers that are madly in love usually excludes and eliminates themselves from the real world and together go to their own personal world of happiness, this can harm the real world as the lovers get blinded by the affection from their lovers and making decisions based on what would keep them together and the other lovers happiness. Romeo and Juliet shows both the protagonists mad love after first sight of one another, this lead to potential harm to both and poor judgements. When Romeo sneaked his way to Juliet’s balcony both shared their sudden love for one another and in the last minute both talked of marriage which Romeo asked to Juliet’s question, “What satisfaction canst thou have tonight?” Romeo spoke, “The exchange of thy love’s faithful vow for mine.” and Juliet answered, “I gave thee mine before thou didst request it, And yet I would it were to give again.” (II, ii, 132-135). This show Romeo and Juliet’s impulsiveness and to rushing to a really big commitment after only two times of seeing and talking to each other. This is a crucially destructive decision as they not know each other that well, only knowing each other’s names, and could possibly be an unacceptable level for them to declare marriage.
