People changing when they gain power has never been a surprise to society. When people come into power they let the people around them that helped them succeed influence them a little more. Sometimes when you are around people so much you can become like them and not notice it at all. Macbeth was so influenced by his wife at the beginning of the play he became more like her as it went on. So Macbeth changed into something he was not at the beginning because of the people around him.

Macbeth starts losing his mind he hears people saying that he killed the king and then he just starts hallucinating when he sees a dagger "Is this a dagger which I see before me....”(II, I, 33) He is losing his mind and it's because of the people that influenced him. Then when lady Macbeth dies he is just done with life when someone that's been through everything with him he just loses it he says “The way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle! Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player”(V.V.2). He is basically saying he doesn't care about life and it's nothing more than an illusion now. He is just basically done and everything and everyone have driven him mad.
So over a time, people change, especially because of the people around you.Who you surround yourself with, you become. As you can see in Macbeth he turns crazy, just as lady Macbeth was. He starts getting her mindset and just becomes the guy version of her. She sees that and isn't pleased with all she probably didn't think he would go mad like he did. But he did so she took her own life and then he didn't want to live at all after that. He became his own worst enemy, so Macbeth changed into something he was not at the beginning because of the people around
