While Karl Marx didn’t invent communism, his creation of the Communist Manifesto and other pro communist works as well as his philosophies helped popularize communist governments. To this day Communism is still popularized by these works, and many conflicts America faces are caused by our relations with Communist countries. The Russian government had two separate revolutions that lead to a communist government and a country called the USSR. Mao Zedong following Marxist principles created the People's Republic of China under a Communist government. The struggle between communist countries and capitalist countries have caused economic social political and military conflict.
The biggest impact and most important topic that needs to be taught in relation to Karl Marx is the Communist Manifesto. The Communist Manifesto is still influential literature in communist countries to this day. The Communist Manifesto was written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Two conflicts nearly every American knows are the conflicts between what was the USSR and the conflict with China. The Cold War lasted from 1947 to 1991. This war between the United States and the Soviet Union resulted in an arms race and space exploration (History.com Staff). Additionally, conflict with China and America is still current and relevant in the U.S. as we need to understand the basis of our conflict before we can really do anything about it. Tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union had started since the early conference in World War Two and increased further at the War’s conclusion. These tensions developed further during the Berlin Blockade and Airlift during 1948 and 1949, China becoming communist in 1949, and the Korean War between 1950 and 1953. The events, have been labelled as the early crisis of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union, and greatly increased tensions between the two superpowers and further led the countries into a Cold War.

Cold War is defined as a state of political hostility existing between countries, characterized by threats, violent propaganda, subversive activities, and other measures short of open warfare, in particular. The causes of the Cold War between United States and the Soviet Union were the mutual distrust that had taken place in World War II, intense rivalry between the two super powers, and conflicting ideologies. The two superpowers differed in views of political and economic principles and were eager to spread their ideologies to other countries. The United States were in favor of democracy and capitalism while the Soviet Union sought for the chances of influencing communism. Cold War did not involve the use of physical arms but was intensely fought. Propaganda, economic aids, Arms Race, and the creation of alliances were the main methods to fight the war. The use of propaganda played a crucial role in containment by criticizing the other power and raised the morale and spirit of their nation. The economic support for nations helped them recover from the desperate situation after World War II, which prevented the nations from falling under communism. Also, the Arms Race and forming alliances between the two main powers were important weapons for competition and rivalry in Cold War.

Communism is everywhere. And many people were involved in communism around the world especially during the 1950’s. One main person involved in american communism was Joseph McCarthy. McCarthy, although negatively, was very much involved in the search for communists in the United States of America.
The opinion of communism in American culture has been negative for as long as com-munism has been around. Throughout history, the United States, has told its citizens that com-munism is evil, taught children in schools that it is a dangerous idea, and has even gone to war to prevent the spread of it in foreign nations. But is it really that "evil" of an idea? In The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, the idea of communism is painted in a much different picture than what is depicted in the United States. Although it was a controversial concept at the time, Marx published this work in 1848, and he provided a convincing case for the benefits of communism. He does this by comparing and criticizing the social classes of citizens throughout history while utilizing different types of appeals to convince the reader that this type of govern-ment should be put into action. Marx believed very strongly in the ideas he put forth in this mani-festo and it shows by how aggressively he conveys the benefits and defends the criticism towards his concept; he is in fact so persuasive in the style of his argument that his theories are still relevant today.
Communists also felt the duty to help the capitalists and this is why they believed that they show impose their rule over these states in order to prevent self-destruction. This is exactly why the domino effect comes into play all around Europe and why the communist nations were thought to follow a strict policy of expansion. There is always at least one odd duck, which stands out from the crowd. The same is true when it comes to politics. One of the most controversial political ideas to ever come to power, is communism. Branching from the socialist party, in 1848, extremist Karl Marx expressed his theories in The Communist Manifesto. This is a text that is still debated today. In an article in the Journal of Social Society, William Niemi wrote about Marx’s ideas still present today. “The rethinking about Karl Marx and Marxism continues some 20 years after the fall of the Soviet dictatorship and its satellites.” (Niemi). The Soviet leaders bragged to other nations that communism would “scrape apart” free-enterprise systems around the world. This attitude angered the capitalists which led into the fifty year Cold War. The United States tried creating many tactics and strategies to contain the “bleeding” of communism, but during the cold war, communism spread faster then it could be restrained. The United States used the Marshall Plan , the Trueman Doctrine, and the Berlin Airlift to help lead people to a capitalist form of government.
The Communist Manifesto, written in 1848, provided the views of Karl Marx on humans and nature. For the time in which the document was written, the ideas of Marx were very radical to society. The ongoing struggle between the Proletarians( the working class) and the Bourgeois( the owners) prompted Marx to develop a solution to this social problem. His solution to this historical problem was to create a capitalist nation, which in the end would result in a Communist nation. He wanted to help the social status of the working class, because he felt that they were being taken advantage of by the owners. The document also discusses the role of humans and their interaction with nature.

Karl Marx commonly known as the father of communism has been major part of history worldwide and which is why he is taught in many history classes. Karl Marx is known as a philosopher, he spent his life questioning and writing many ideas. Communism is probably one of the most associated terms with Karl Marx, and communism is viewed as an evil economic system but Marx didn’t create communism to be evil. In fact, many of my previous teachers and professors have stated that Marx’s idea of communism was an impressive idea and it seemed like it would work on paper but, it was executed terrible in countries like Russia and China. Why is it that the life and influence of Karl Marx isn’t something that is discussed when talking about him in textbooks and lectures? The life surrounding Marx is what influence him writing his most famous piece of literature and without the events in his life falling into play Marx wouldn’t be known worldwide like he is today.
The Cuban Missile Crisis was a major event in U.S History that almost led to nuclear destruction. It was over a period of thirteen days in which diplomats from the U.S and the Soviet Union were trying to reach a peaceful resolution so that they wouldn’t have to engage in physical warfare. The crisis was the hallmark of the Cold War era which lasted from the 1950’s to the late 1980’s. The Cold War was a power struggle between the U.S and Soviet Union in which the two nations had a massive arms race to become the strongest military force. The U.S considered Communism to be an opposing political entity, and therefore branded them as enemies. Khrushchev’s antagonistic view of Americans also played a big role in the conflict. The Cold War tensions, coupled with a political shift in Cuba eventually lead to the military struggle known as the Cuban Missile Crisis. The Cuban Missile Crisis was the point of most tension and near collapse causing the Cold War to almost shift from a passive and underground struggle to a violent and catastrophic one.
During the Chinese Civil War, from 1927 to 1949, the Chinese people were very interested in communism. The United States tried containing communism and hoped it did not spread around the world. After World War II, communism looked great for many countries that were now in need of help from the government. Communism was just what they were looking for. All the countries that were interested in a communist style government, The Soviet Union always backed them up. This was horrible for the US and they tried to contain communism and tried to keep it from spreading. Before the policy of containment was established, in China the Qing Dynasty collapsed.
